Cover Letter

커버레터는 아래와 같은 구성으로 이루어져 있으며, 각 항목을 예시와 함께 차례로 살펴보겠습니다.

헤더 (Header)

인사 (Greeting)

도입부 ( Introduction)

회사 지원 동기 (Why them?)

자신이 해당 포지션에 적합한 이유 (Why you?)

마무리 (The ending)

1) 헤더 (Header)

커버레터의 기본 구조는 오른쪽 윗부분에 자신의 이름, 전화번호, 이메일 주소, 집 주소, 날짜를 적고 왼쪽 아랫부분에는 커버레터를 받게 될 HR 담당자 또는 부서 매니저 이름, 회사명과 회사 주소를 넣습니다

2) 인사 (Greeting)

커버레터를 시작할 땐 ‘Dear’라는 단어 뒤에, 커버레터를 받게 될 담당자의 타이틀과 성을 넣습니다. 가령, Professor, Dr, Mr, Ms 타이틀 다음에 성을 넣으면 됩니다.

‘Dear Sir/Madam’ 또는 ‘To whom it may concern’ 이런 문구보다는 최대한 자신의 커버레터를 받을 사람의 이름을 넣도록 합니다. 보통 잡 공고를 보면 CV와 커버레터를 보내야 할 담당자 이름이 포함되어 있습니다. 명시되어 있지 않은 경우, 링크드인이나 구글 검색을 통해 어렵지 않게 찾을 수 있습니다. 검색했는데도 나오지 않는다면 아래 형식 중 하나를 따르면 됩니다.

3) 도입부 ( Introduction)

도입부에서는 자신을 소개하고, 커버레터 쓰는 이유, 어디에서 잡 공고를 발견했는지 해당 내용을 넣습니다.

도입부 예시 1

I am very enthusiastic about a Brand Internship position advertised on the Red Bull Career website. I am currently completing an undergraduate degree in Business Management at XYZ University. I am well aware of your reputation as a marketing innovator and No.1 brand in the energy drink market. My past work experience, education and knowledge of your brand would allow me to make a valuable contribution to Red Bull.

도입부 예시 2

It is with great enthusiasm that I submit my application for the senior designer position. I am a digital design professional with 5+ years of experience and currently working at Creative Team of ODF. I saw your job advertisement at XYZ website.

4) 회사 지원 동기 (Why them?)

해당 포지션에 지원하는 이유, 회사와 업무에 관한 자신의 열정을 구체적으로 이야기합니다.

회사 지원 이유 예시 1

One of the attractions of Red Bull is the relentless pursuit of innovation in marketing strategy, which has led to the success of the brand now. I became interested in your brand when I watched the dramatic jump in a YouTube video of Red Bull Stratos campaign. It was the very first moment that I had the brand message ‘Red Bull gives you wings’ imprinted on my mind. Since then, I have kept an eye on how this message translates into the marketing and it has never disappointed me with outstanding and creative marketing approaches from Music Academy to eSports. That is why I was thrilled when I saw the internship posting - the perfect opportunity to expand my knowledge, working with brand guardians at the unbeatable marketing powerhouse.

회사 지원 이유 예시 2

Since I came across XYZ, I have read your interview and opinions and become a big fan of ODW. Exploring your website, I stumbled on your opinion posts. It was very enjoyable for me to find out standpoints of the process, challenges, and design solutions in terms of the outcomes and your solutions are inventive and detail-oriented, growing the value of brands. As a detail-savvy designer taking count of coherent design, I found your approaches fitting with my goals towards work.

5) 자신이 해당 포지션에 적합한 이유 (Why you?)

자신의 스킬과 경험, 자질을 잡에서 요구하는 사항과 연결합니다. 모든 경험을 나열할 필요는 없고 3~4개 정도 예시를 들어 자기가 최적의 지원자라는 걸 강조합니다.

자기소개 예시 1

Working as an Administrative Assistant at XYZ Corporation I developed strong research and organisational skills. One of my achievements was when I improved the way to display new company regulations in an employee handbook. I organised new data including suppliers’ labels, applications, and samples for the handbook in the effective order to help people take in updated details easier and faster. I also had an opportunity to collaborate with a Product Development Department. My tasks included doing thorough research from domestic and foreign competitors to materials and wholesale prices. I strongly believe that these skills would be beneficial to work as a Brand Communications Assistant.

자기소개 예시 2

Through my work experience and coursework, I have developed an excellent visual eye and artistic sense. In my role of Videographer at XYZ agency and Photographer & Filmmaker at JK Studio, I delivered exceptional final outputs including physical and digital, using strong photographic aesthetic and discerning eye for detail. I believe my fashion editorial project 'Dream’ is the one that demonstrates my creative flair well. It was featured in MLE, a fashion magazine notable for showcasing groundbreaking work within art and fashion. In the project, I oversaw all aspects of the fashion shoot from concepting to execution including model casting, sourcing clothes & props, as well as working on post-production.

6) 마무리 (The ending)

마지막 부분에서는 감사 표현과 함께 긍정적이고 공손하게 sign-off 문구와 이름을 넣고 마무리합니다.
