Glenn Branca가 세상을 떠나서 그의 작업들을 다시 찾아들었다.
개인적으로 Sonic Youth보다는 MBV나 RIDE를 많이 듣는 편이었었고 그러다 보니 그가 남긴 실험적인 흔적들을 이번에 처음 접하게 되었다. 그의 솔로 작업들은 GY!BE에게 지대한 영향을 주었다는 느낌이 많이 들었다. 기타로 노이즈를 쌓아가는 것, 만들어진 질감을 오케스트라 및 다른 악기들로 역동적으로 살아 움직이게 하는 방식, 내가 GY!BE를 들으며 감탄하고 빠져들었던 그 서사구조의 시초는 그가 아니었을까 싶다.
