Every good story begins with the story already happening. So when God said, “In the beginning,” we know that wasn’t the beginning of God. It was the beginning of us. It seems important, then, to consider how he decided to begin the story he’s telling.
In the beginning, God made art. His art marks the foundation of everything we know. The kind of art God makes is not an afterthought or a weekend hobby he does on the side.
God’s art is the starting point for the story of the world.
He spoke the world into being and there was light and dark and elephants and rivers and dirt that I wash from my son’s fingernails. He sopke, and grass came out. He whispered lillies, camels, honeysuckle, and sand. Mountains were shaped by the timbre of his voice, and valleys swooped down low when he finished his sentence.
The first thing we know about God is he made art.
What is the first thing we know about people?
We were made in the image of God.

Life is not fair.
It seems that our lives are mostly controlled by certain things that were given to us from the beginning without our consent. Races. Skin colors. Genders. Height. Personalities. Preferences. Genes. Last names. Family history. Oh, the never-dwindling well of insecurities, depression, rage, and every question that starts with ‘Why me?’ There is no one on earth who has never gone through painful experiences emerging from living with unfairness.
But I dare to dream a world where people freely and willingly choose to believe in the existence of God’s art that marks the foundation of everything we are given and are not given. Then we can learn to swim in the ocean that changes every second and appreciate the beauty of ups and downs with confidence that it is God that made our world with His art. Look who is in control. Like Peter who took a step out of a boat with eyes fixed upon Jesus standing on the Sea of Galilee.

Giving Table Members' Sentences with "Mark"
The saying "God's art is the starting point of the story of the world" comes to my mind. I entrust my life to the God who is writing the story. I am a poem that Jesus is writing. I want to obey what he writes. - H.
God's art marks thousands of songs throughout my whole life. When I was 7, I told him secretly looking at the Sunday school chioir wearing a red robe. "God, I want to sing like them someday. But a kid like me would never be able to do that right?" Then, who planted the desire in me? That's the thing that I know and believe for sure. He designed me an image bearer of him as a wife, a mom of three children and a worhip leader. - D.
My first impression of word "Mark" is using a thick pen which can write name on something to claim ownership. Also I marked calander to remember special event if I am using this word correctly. Mark! That is both easy and complicated. Haha. - D.
