A life of small guy
Can you believe that if I say I was tall before?
What will happen if you were tall and suddenly became short?
Today, I will tell you about understanding. To understand something, you should stand under somebody! If you stand over somebody, you cannot understand deeply.
If you are strong enough, you may not understand the weak.
If you are rich, you may not understand the poor.
If you are taller, you may not understand the shorter.
If you are handsome or pretty, you may not understand the ugly.
A life of small guy
I was tall. Yes, I was tall when I was twelve years old. My current height is almost the same when I was twelve. At that time, I was top ten tallest boys in my class.
However, when I was fifteen, I was top 10 smallest boy in my class. I had weak eyes too, so I sat at the front in my classroom. I was the vice leader, so I should have to control the classroom while we were self-studying.
One day two guys were fighting, so I ordered them to stop that.
"Hey, you two! Stop it!"
They did not listen to me. I shouted again and went to them.
"Stop it! Or I will tell you to the teacher."
Suddenly one of them hit my head with a word:
"Don't mess with me, YOU SMALL GUY!"
I got shocked! He was my friend more than five years and he was smaller than me.
"This guy was under my power. He never stood up to me! Now, he hit me? Wow!'
I tried to hit him, but soon I found that he was much taller than me and I must do "upper" cut to hit him. His shoulder was almost over my head. I realized that I could not win him anymore.
I came back to my seat quietly with anger.
"Don't mess with me, YOU SMALL GUY!"
I was almost crying.
'Oh, now I am a small guy who cannot counterattack anymore.'
After a few weeks later, he was going home with me. I asked him as a friend.
"Do you remember that I hit you often, long time ago?"
"Yes, I do."
"What did you feel at that time?"
"Bad! Pretty bad!"
"Why didn't you tell me then?"
"If I said, I would get more hits"
After that, I knew what is the life of small guy! I had never thought about the life of small guys before. I was pretty bad when I was tall and did not recognize what I was doing wrong.
After that, I thought about many things what I have not experienced yet.
'Do I understand who fails again and again in the exam?'
'Do I understand who do not run well?'
'Do I understand who do not play the piano?'
and so on.
Understanding.
That is Under + Standing!
If you stand above somebody, you can not understand them fully.
If you stand some better circumstance, you can not understand fully who are in worse.
So why don't you go down, stay under of them to understand them? They could be our family, our neighbor. They could be the foreigners in our country as workers. They could be the escaped North Koreans in our county. Look around and stand under just once to understand them.
