How to order without ARC
One of the advantages of being in Korea is to make use of their fast delivery services. The most commonly used apps are Baemin Delivery (배달의민족), Coupang, and Yogiyo (요기요). However, all of these apps are Korean language only except for Coupang Eats, and they all require a Registration Card registered phone number with a domestic bank account. This blog will explain how to get groceries and food delivered without having a Korean Registration Card and bank account.
Firstly, Shuttle, a food delivery app that is completely available in English and payments can be done with PayPal or Foreign Credit Cards. The cons of Shuttle are that the number of restaurants is limited and the delivery fee is higher than on other apps.
Secondly, GMarket, an online Amazon-like marketplace where you are able to buy fresh groceries, clothes even K-Pop albums, and many more. The only cons are that if you buy from multiple sellers you will all receive them at different times and get a lot of unnecessary boxes.
Depending on the item you will have to confirm the amount first before you are able to add it to the cart, for others you can straight add them to your cart. When checking out, you do have to fill in your Korean address and a Korean phone number. This way you will get tracking updates on your items and can make even changes to where they should be delivered to. If you forget to put in your apartment number or front door code, the delivery driver will try to contact you to notify you about your package. Most items are usually delivered within the next day and note that your package will be left outside your door because of covid-19. In Korea, you generally do not have to worry about your package being stolen.
