Hidden activities in Busan

Spots that most have not talked about

Whenever visiting Busan there are some spots/activities definitely worth checking out that are not frequently talked about. Some favorites are listed down below.

Firstly, somewhat time-sensitive sightseeing and not because of when it will be displayed but because of the availability. Every Saturday at 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM Korean Standard Time, there is a drone show at Gwangalli Beach (supposedly on Thursdays as well) where various illustrations are being displayed by multiple drones that are simultaneously in the air with different colored LEDs. The show lasts just under 10 minutes and will continue to be played till September. You do not have to book any tickets you can just walk towards the beach, find a place to sit or stand and you will hear music being played through the speakers as well as the colorful images that will be displayed from the drones.

From Gwangan station (line 2) it is a small 8-10 minute walk to the beach.

Secondly, the Lotte department store in Gwangbok (광복) is similar to all the other department stores however, the one in Gwangbok has an amazing view over the city on the 13th floor. Getting to the 13th floor can be challenging as not all elevators go that high. Additionally, the same department store hosts the world's tallest indoor music fountain which is being held every day on the hour.

Entrance is free but they might close off the area if the weather conditions are not optimal.

Lastly, a must-do for when visiting Busan is to go paddle boarding at the Gwangalli beach especially in the early morning when you can see the sunrise. You will get to learn to paddleboard and there are plenty of wet suits and others available for rental. There are a variety of companies that provide these services but with limited English.
