이번 주 책.

1000years of annoying the French (천년 동안 프랑스 빡치게 하기 정도?)

이 사람 첫 책은 (A Year in the Merde) 그냥저냥 이었다. 그게 자가 출판했다가 입소문 타고 대박 성공한 책이라는데, 영국 사람이 프랑스 오래 살면서 겪는 딥빡침을 바탕으로 쓴 소설이었다.

그래도 난 역시 소설보다는 넌픽션.  

꽤 두꺼워서 아직 반 정도밖에 안 읽었는데, 재밌다. 영국과 프랑스의 투닥거림 내지는 깊이 박힌 불신에 대해 궁금했었다면 일독 권유. 프랑스 쪽 사람들이 읽으면 좀 심하게 거슬릴지도.

심각한 역사책이라고 하기엔 좀 농담이 너무 많고, 유머책이라고 하기엔 역사가 꽤나 들어가 있고 두께가 있어서, 아마존 리뷰도 보니까 평이 많이 갈리는 듯. 그럭저럭 역사덕후고 대강 아는 내용이고 웃긴 글 좋아하는 나는 아주 재밌게 읽고 있다.

웃겼던 부분 몇 개:

정복자 윌리엄에게 배너 선사한 교황:
