마지막 춤
나는 어머니를 묻고 있네
오래되어 과밀한
베오그라드의 새 공동묘지에
관은 힘들게 내려가네
무덤의 얕은 틈 속으로
그리고 내 아버지 곁에 영면하네
관은 곧 첫 번째 흙덩어리 아래에서 사라진다
모자를 쓰지 않은 두 젊은 무덤 파는 사람
보이지 않는 관 위를 돌며 뛰며
흙을 아래로 채워 넣네
그들의 위로 치켜든 삽에
두 개의 오후 태양이 빛나네
나의 웃고 있는 어머니는
그녀를 기리는 이 춤을
보고 감동했을 것이다
THE LAST DANCE
I am burying my mother
In the old overcrowded
New cemetery of Belgrade
The coffin is laboriously lowered
Into the shallow slit of grave
And rests on my father's
It soon disappears under the first clods
Two hatless young grave-diggers
Leap round on the invisible coffin
And pack down the earth
On their upraised spades
Shine two afternoon suns
My laughing mother
Would have been thrilled to watch
This dance in her honour
