검은 조지(George)의 죽음*
그들은 그가 자는 동안 그의 머리를 잘랐다

They cut off his head as he slept
Bore it away to the city of the king cur
And threw it to the whelps
When he wakes he'll go after it
A black handkerchief in his left hand
And a black rose in his right
His wolves will ride out to meet him
On black horses
With black banners
They'll carry his head
On crossed black flutes**

*The Second Serbian Uprising, under the leadership of the pragmatic, ruthless and cunning Milos Obrenovic, began in 1815. When Karadorde returned to Serbia 1817, Obrenovic, fearing that Karadorde would take over the leadership of the Uprising, had Karadorde murdered and sent his head to Constantinople in order to ingratiate himself with the Sultan. Eventually won full autonomy from the Turkish Empire in 1830 - but it is debatable whether the population was actually any better off under Obrenovic's autocratic, corrupt and unpopular rule. The feud between the two royal dynasties, the Karadordevici and the Obrenovici, is an obsessive thread running through the next century of Serbia's history.
