그들이 암늑대를 가둔다
땅 속의 불에
거기서 그녀가
연기의 탑을 짓게 하고
불씨의 빵을 만들게 한다
불타는 석탄을 먹이고
마실 것으로
끓는 수은 우유를 준다
그들은 그녀가 짝짓기를 하도록 한다
홍열(紅熱)의 부지깽이들과
그리고 녹슨 송곳들과
이빨로 암늑대는
금발(金髮)의 별을 붙잡고 金
자신을 다시 하늘의 기슭으로 당긴다

They imprison the she-wolf
In subterranean fire
There they force her to build
Towers of smoke
And to make bread of embers
They force-feed her with burning coals
And as drink
Give boiling quicksilver milk
They drive her to couple
With red-hot pokers
And rusty gimlets
With her teeth the she-wolf catches
A fair-haired star
And pulls herself back to heaven's foothills
