비비 [EVE] 2025 뉴욕 공연 관람기
1. 라디오 시티 뮤직홀
콘서트는 미드타운의 전설적 콘서트홀인 radio city music concert hall에서 열렸다. 락펠러센터 그룹이 1920년대에 ‘미국민들을 위한 쇼플레이스’로 헌정/오픈한 곳인 만큼, 특유의 고풍스러움과 웅장함이 엄청나다. 관광객일때, 뉴욕의 홀리데이 시즌 테마쇼 "Christmas spectacular" 보러간 게 첫방문이었던지라, 아니 이런 곳에서 팝스타 공연도 하나? 싶었는데 알고보니 쇼비지니스의 명당답게 비욘세, 레이디 가가, 테일러 스위프트 등 기라성 같은 팝스타들이 단독공연을 펼친 곳이라고! 확실히 음향, 사운드, 프로젝트 화면 등 뭐하나 빠지는 것 없었고 각 열마다 단차가 있어서 어느 자리에 앉든 잘보였다. 약간 구식 극장 의자였지만 쿠션이 빵빵해, 2시간 반 넘는 시간동안 오히려 너무 편하게 즐겼다.
멋지다 비비2. 이브/ 비비 유니버스
이번 콘서트는 비비의 정규앨범 [EVE]를 중심으로 구성되었다. 당대 최고의 가수이자 광고모델, 여배우였던 오리지널 EVE와 그녀의 사후 탄생한 복제인간 EVE-1 사이의 내적 갈등과 화해를 그린 스토리가 무대의 큰 줄기를 이룬다. 연기자이기도 비비가 직접 출연한 VCR 영상들을 통해 이 복합적인 서사를 더욱 풍부하게 풀어내며 '이브 유니버스'에 대한 이해와 몰입을 높였다. 이외에도 데뷔곡부터 콜라보레이션/ 여러 싱글 곡들까지 아낌없이 준비한 셋리스트는 그야말로 축복이었다.
* Unpopular opinion: 이브-1의 캐릭터가 너무 양아치 of 양아치라... 보기 불편했다. (연기를 너무 잘해서인지!) 자살/술/담배 등의 타락 클리셰 범벅인 스토리라인도 좀 오그라들고^-^; + 영어자막 가독성이 너무 안좋던데 신경써야될 듯.
3. 관객들
이게 진짜 재밌는 포인트. 보통 그 뮤지션이 누구인지 보려면, 그의 팬들의 스타일을 보라고 하는데, 대부분 비비의 팬답게 굉장히 시크한 스타일링이 많았다. 블랙&화이트의 모노톤 느낌 가득 ㅎㅎ 대부분은 젠지 asain american 들이었고 재밌는 건, 백발이 성성한 백인 노부부 커플, 혼자와서 응원봉을 소중하게 흔드는 중년의 여성/ 남성팬들도 꽤 있었단 것. 그리고 말로만 듣던 부모님과 같이 온 십대들도 있었다. 내 좌석 대각선에 앉았던 아빠랑 온 중학생 백인 여자아이가 계속 눈에 띄었는데, 흑화된 섹시비비 무대 선보일때마다 괜히 내가 부모가 된냥 식은땀이 났다. 근데 그 아버님, 오히려 공연 내내 한곡도 안놓치고 녹화해주더라 ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
4. 비비는 넥스트 자넷잭슨?!
밈으로 돌정도로, 전설적인 19금 팬서비스를 보여준 자넷 잭슨의 콘서트 팬서비스. 우리에겐 이제 비비가 있다....! 남성팬 한명을 랜덤으로 무대위로 올려, Best Lover 를 부르며 (이노래를 이렇게 들을 줄이야ㅋㅋㅋ) 딥허그, 볼뽀뽀에 사인한 앨범까지... 다 퍼주더라. 남편이 ‘이게 한국인의 정이야? 라고 묻는데 빵 터짐ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ 그나저나 긴장해서인지 제일 좋아하는 곡이 뭔지도 말못하던 이 남자... 진짜 계탔다.
5. 다크 비비 포에버
개인적으로 ‘쉬가릿 she got it’을 처음 들은 날의 충격을 아직도 잊지못한다. 아니, 유교국 대한민국에 솔로 신인! 여가수가/ 이런 가사로/ 이렇게 쿨한 사운드로 부른다고?! 이외에도 발칙하며서 당당한 가사의 '비누'도 그렇고, 전에없던 신인류의 발견이다싶어 그 이후부터 '다크' 비비의 팬이 되었다. 그녀를 대중가수의 반열로 올린 대국민히트곡 '밤양갱' 이후엔 솔직히 관심이 좀 떨어졌었는데, 무대 위 넘치는 애교를 보니.. 저항없이 엄마미소 짓고 있더라. 그럼에도 Meat(몸), Sugar rush, kazino 같은 다크 비비의 정체성같은 곡들도 빠지지않고 다 불러줘서 너무 좋았다.
6. 네버엔딩 셋리스트의 축복
2시간 반이 훌쩍 넘게 ‘아 이노래도 불러주면 좋겠다’싶은 리스트까지 싹 다 불러줬다. 위켄드 나의 최애, 파도는 남편의 최애였는데 기대치 않던 최애곡 나올때마다 너무 행복.... 앵콜도 심지어 4곡 정도? 불렀던 것 같다. 그럼에도 지치지않는 체력, 고막에 버터칠해주는 음색, 관객들 홀리는 재간까지. 월드투어할 만 하다.
7. 영어는 수단일 뿐
피곤해서인지, 유창하진 않지만 공연 처음부터 끝까지 통역없이 영어로 5천명이 넘는 관객에게 질문도 던지고 자기 얘기도 술술 풀면서 소통도 너무 잘하더라. ‘왠지 모르게 집중하게 하는’ 매력이 철철.

내 안에 내가 너무 많은 비비. 남녀노소 다 구미호같이 홀리다가, 달디달고단 밤양갱 부르는 교복소녀가 됐다가, 관객들이랑 토크할 땐 또 한없이 털털한 사랑스러움을 보여주는 진짜 팔색조. 그런 정체성을 응축한 그녀의 데뷔곡 ‘비누’를 마지막 곡으로 택했다는 것. 너무나 응원하고 앞으로 더더 다양한 비비를 볼 수 있으면 좋겠다.
돔형태의 웅장한 공연장 내부 1. Radio City Music Hall
The concert took place at the legendary Radio City Music Hall in Midtown—opened by the Rockefeller Center group in the 1920s as a “showplace for the nation.” The place still oozes old-school grandeur. My first visit was back during the holiday season for the Christmas Spectacular, so I couldn’t help but wonder: do pop stars even perform here? Turns out, absolutely—they’ve hosted Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, and more. Sound, visuals, production—everything was spot-on. The seating has those classic theater chairs, but they’re cushioned and surprisingly comfy, even over a 2.5‑hour show.
2. The EVE / BIBI Universe
The show was built around BIBI’s full-length album EVE, weaving a narrative between the original EVE—a superstar singer, model, and actress—and EVE‑1, a clone born after her death. BIBI, a skilled actress herself, starred in VCR segments throughout the concert, which really helped the audience connect with and understand the EVE universe. Plus, the setlist included everything from debut tracks to collabs and singles—it was truly a gift.
Unpopular opinion: EVE‑1’s character was so thugged-out that it got a bit uncomfortable (credit to her acting, I guess). The cliched self‑destruct themes—drugs, booze, suicide—didn’t land for me, either. And, English subtitles? They definitely need improvement.
3. The fans
This was a highlight. If you want to understand an artist, watch their fans. BIBI’s crowd skewed stylish and minimalist—lots of monochrome, very Gen‑Z Asian American vibes. But it was full of surprises: an older white couple with silver hair, solo middle-aged women waving their lightsticks, male fans alone—lots of variety. I noticed a white dad and his middle school daughter sitting diagonally across. Every time BIBI turned up the heat, I started sweating like a worried parent. But the dad? He was unbothered—filming every single song like a pro.
4. The next Janet Jackson?
Remember the Janet Jackson viral moment when she brought a fan onstage for a very intense gesture? BIBI delivered her own version. She pulled a random male fan on stage during 'Best Lover' and gave him the full BIBI treatment—deep hug, kiss on the cheek, signed album… everything. My husband turned to me and asked, “Is this what Korean ‘Jeong’(warmth) is like?” I couldn’t stop laughing. The guy looked stunned, too—could barely say his favorite song. Dude got so lucky.
5. Dark BIBI Forever
I’ll never forget the first time I heard 'She Got It'. Like, a solo female artist in Korea dropping those Raw and unfiltered lyrics about sex with that cool sound—it was groundbreaking. A song like 'BINU(Soap)' was bold and unapologetic, and of course, I was hooked. After her massive hit Bam Yang Gang, I drifted a bit—but seeing her charm back onstage? I was right there, smiling like a mom. And she didn’t skip sensual staples like Meat, Sugar Rush, or Kazino. Dark BIBI is alive and well.
6. A Never‑Ending Setlist
Over two and a half hours, she ran through every track you could ask for. 'The weekend' was my favorite, 'Pado' was my husband’s. When those popped up unexpectedly, we were ecstatic. And she hit the encore almost four times. Her stamina, vocals that smooth like butter, stage presence—this is world‑tour caliber.
7. English Was Just a Tool
She wasn’t flawlessly fluent, but from start to end, she spoke English directly to over 5,000 people—asking questions, telling stories, connecting—no interpreter. That raw presence? It just grabs you.
8. “That BIBI is something else.”
BIBI is a chameleon. One moment, she’s a fox spirit enchanting everyone; the next, she’s a sweet schoolgirl singing Bam Yang Gang; then a chill, funny friend when she chats with the crowd. She saved her debut track binu for last—full circle. I’m already hoping for her Coachella debut.
