조현 ‘이재명 자신이 페이스메이커로 강등’ 트럼프 교조주의 언론조작

조현 외무장관이 AP 인터뷰에서 ‘이재명 대통령 자신이 심박조율자(페이스메이커)로 강등시켰다’고 트럼프 교조주의를 밝혔고, 한국언론들은 이 핵심 대목을 모두 빼고 ‘트럼프 김정은 만나면 환상적일 것’ 발언으로 일제히 보도했다.

조 장관은 유엔본부에서 인터뷰는 AP가 <외무장관은 "그리고 이재명 대통령은 트럼프 대통령에게 자신이 운전석에 앉지 않을 것임을 분명히 했다. 그는 트럼프 대통령에게 평화주의자가 되라고 요청했고, 그는 자신을 심박조율자로 강등시켰다"면서 "우리는 신경 쓰지 않는다. 오히려 우리는 트럼프 대통령이 북한을 대화 테이블로 끌어당기기 위해 리더십을 발휘하기를 원한다."고 말했다>고 27일 보도했다.

조 장관은 AP의 국제전문 기자에게 “이 대통령 자신이 심박조율자로 강등시켰다”고 발언했고, “우리는 신경쓰지 않는다”고 한반도 문제를 ‘트럼프에 전권 위임’으로 발언했고, 한국언론들은 이를 삭제했다.

조 외무장관은 AP에 <2022년 러시아가 우크라이나를 침공한 이후 세계가 변하고 "훨씬 더 위태로워졌기 때문에" 이재명 대통령이 트럼프에게 주도권을 잡을 것을 요청했다>고 말했다.

조 장관 이어 "따라서 우리는 한반도에서 발생할 수 있는 군사적 충돌에 대해서도 똑같이 우려하고 있다"면서 "그래서 우리는 군사적 긴장을 완화하기 위해 북한과의 대화를 모색할 수밖에 없으며, 적어도 핫라인을 갖고 싶다"고 말해, ‘당장의 남북 군사 긴장 고조’에 대책으로 ‘트럼프 절대 의존 체제 전환’으로 밝혔다.

집권 민주당의 당원주권주의 최대조직인 더민주혁신회의는 27일 트럼프 미 대통령이 한국의 대미 투자금 3500억달러에 ‘선불’이라고 발언에 비난 논평으로 “귀신 씻나락 까먹는 소리도 정도가 있다. 무도한 관세 협상으로 국민주권을 훼손하는 미국 정부를 강력하게 규탄한다”면서도 ‘트럼프 비난’을 배제하고, “미국 정부 주장대로 3500억달러를 현금 직접 투자 방식으로 이행한다면 한국의 외환보유고는 곧장 바닥을 드러내 IMF의 힘을 빌려야 하는 ‘제2의 외환위기’를 맞게 된다”고 ‘발언자 트럼프 지목’을 피해 ‘미국 정부’로 비난 대상을 바꿨다.

조 장관은 이아 AP에 “평화가 최우선”이라고 ‘안보의 시급성’으로 말했다.

반면 위성락 안보실장은 27일 채널A 인터뷰로 이번 APEC 정상회의를 계기로 트럼프 대통령과 김정은 북한 국무위원장 간 '만남' 가능성에 대해 "가능성이 있을 수 있다고 말씀드리기보다는 아직은 그냥 상상의 영역에 있다고 해야 할 것 같다"며 "그렇게 될 개연성이나 조짐이 보이는 건 아직은 없다"고 ‘상상’으로 밝혔다.

이 대통령은 유엔 참석 직전 로이터 인터뷰로 “노벨평화상에 트럼프 말고 누가 있겠는가”라고 말해, ‘트럼프 절대적 지지’로 21일 밝혔다.

유엔총회에 앞서 한미일 외무장관이 뉴욕 공동성명으로 ‘북한 비핵화, 대만해협 평화 안정’을 발표하고, 이 직전에 조현 외교장관은 중국과의 외무장관회담에서 ‘하나의 중국 지지’를 밝혔다.

3국 장관은 공동성명에서 "대화와 외교를 통해 한반도 평화와 안정을 유지하기 위한 노력을 지속해나가는 가운데, 관련 유엔 안전보장이사회 결의에 따른 북한의 완전한 비핵화(complete denuclearization of the DPRK)에 대한 확고한 의지를 재확인했다"고 22일 밝혔다.

한국 외교부는 이에 ‘한반도 비핵화’로 바꿔서 이날 보도자료로 발표했다.

3국 장관 공동성명은 이어 "대만 해협에서의 평화와 안정 유지의 중요성"을 밝히고, "대만 인근에서 불안정을 야기하는 행위가 점점 빈번해지고 있음에 우려"에서 "양안 문제의 평화적 해결"을 공개 요구해 ‘중국의 대만 무력 시위’에 반대했다.

반면 조현 외교장관은 17일 중국 왕이 외교부장과 회담에서 <한국이 '하나의 중국' 원칙을 존중한다>고 밝혔고, 이는 중국 외교부가 이날 보도자로에서 공개했다.

한국 외교부는 조 장관의 이 발언에 대해 보도자료에서 삭제했다.

조선일보는 <조현 외교장관 “조만간 트럼프·김정은 만난다면 환상적일 것”> 제목으로 27일 보도했다.

한겨레는 <조현 외교장관 “트럼프, 리더십 발휘해 북 대화 테이블로 이끌어주길”> 제목에 <AP 통신 인터뷰서 “두 사람 만난다면 환상적일 것”, “이 대통령에게 북한 문제에 관여할 의지 있다 말해”> 부제목으로 보도했다.

경향신문은 <조현 외교부 장관, AP통신에 “트럼프-김정은 만난다면 환상적일 것”>으로 보도했다.

‘한겨레’는 유일하게 AP에 대해 <그는 “이재명 대통령은 자신이 ‘운전석’에 앉지 않겠다는 점을 트럼프 대통령에게 분명히 하면서 스스로는 ‘페이스메이커’(pacemaker) 역할로 물러섰다”며 “우리는 대북 문제에서 주도권을 잡지 못하더라도 개의치 않으며 트럼프 대통령이 리더십을 발휘해 북한을 대화 테이블로 이끌어 주기를 원한다”고 말했다>고 ‘강등’ 대신에 ‘물러섰다’고 보도했다.

조 장관은 미 민주당 체제에서 우크라이나 전쟁이 발발해 민주당에서 셰계 안보가 위험해 졌고, 공화당 트럼프 대통령이 선거 운동에서 '당선 1달 내 종전'의 '바이든이 무능해 우크라이나 전쟁 발발' 주장에 공조한 것으로 보이며, 이를 근거로 '한반보 위기 고조 과장으로 트럼프에 안보 체제 전권 위임'을 밝힌 것에 해당된다.

트럼프 대통령 ‘선불(upfront)’ 발언은 25일 중국의 틱톡 합의에 의한 행정명령 서명에서 “이미 알고 있듯이 일본에서는 5500억달러, 한국에서는 3500억달러를 받는다. 이것은 선불”이라고 ‘한국’을 분명하게 밝혔다.

이재명 체제의 한국 민주당은 미국 강경보수의 친공화당 노선으로 친트럼프 체제에서 강경한 무역협정에 막히자 트럼프 개인 의존도를 높이기 위해 '반미국 정서 자극' 전략에서 트럼프 유일주의로 강경보수 강화를 보인다.

Cho Hyun: "Lee Jae-myung Demoted Himself to Pacemaker": Trump's Doctrinaire Media Manipulation

Foreign Minister Cho Hyun revealed Trump's doctrinaire stance in an AP interview, claiming, "President Lee Jae-myung himself demoted him to pacemaker." South Korean media outlets omitted this key passage and reported it as a statement that "it would be fantastic if Trump met Kim Jong-un."

At UN Headquarters, Minister Cho was interviewed on the 27th by the AP, which stated, "The Foreign Minister said, 'President Lee Jae-myung made it clear to President Trump that he will not be in the driver's seat.

He asked President Trump to become a pacifist, and he demoted me to pacemaker.'" He added, "We don't care. Rather, we want President Trump to exercise leadership to bring North Korea to the negotiating table."

Foreign Minister Cho told an AP international correspondent that "President Lee himself has demoted himself to a pacemaker," and that he "delegates full authority" on the Korean Peninsula issue to Trump, saying, "We don't care." South Korean media outlets subsequently deleted this.

Foreign Minister Cho told the AP that President Lee Jae-myung had asked Trump to take the lead because the world has changed and become "much more precarious" since Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

Minister Cho continued, "Therefore, we are equally concerned about a potential military conflict on the Korean Peninsula," adding, "That's why we have no choice but to seek dialogue with North Korea to ease military tensions, and at the very least, we want to have a hotline."

He declared, "We will shift to a system of absolute dependence on Trump" as a countermeasure to the "immediate escalation of inter-Korean military tensions."

The Democratic Party's largest member-sovereignty organization, the Democratic Innovation Conference, criticized US President Trump's remarks on the 27th regarding South Korea's $350 billion investment in the US as a "prepayment."

The statement stated, "There's a limit to the nonsense of a fool. We strongly condemn the US government for undermining national sovereignty through outrageous tariff negotiations." However, it avoided criticizing Trump and shifted the blame to the US government, stating, "If the US government implements the $350 billion in direct cash investment as it claims, South Korea's foreign exchange reserves will immediately be depleted, forcing it to seek assistance from the IMF, leading to a 'second foreign exchange crisis.'" This shifted the blame from Trump to the US government, avoiding the accusation of "the speaker."

Minister Cho told the Associated Press, "Peace is the top priority," citing the "urgency of security." Meanwhile, National Security Office Director Wi Sung-rak, in an interview with Channel A on the 27th, stated that the possibility of a meeting between President Trump and North Korean Chairman Kim Jong-un during the APEC summit was "imaginary," stating, "Rather than saying it could be possible, I think it's still in the realm of imagination." He added, "There's no sign or probability of such a thing happening yet."

President Lee, in an interview with Reuters just before attending the UN, said, "Who else could win the Nobel Peace Prize besides Trump?" and declared his "absolute support for Trump" on the 21st.

Ahead of the UN General Assembly, the foreign ministers of South Korea, the US, and Japan announced a joint statement in New York calling for "North Korea's denuclearization and peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait."

Just before this, Foreign Minister Cho Hyun expressed support for "One China" during a foreign ministers' meeting with China. In a joint statement, the three ministers announced on the 22nd, "While continuing efforts to maintain peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula through dialogue and diplomacy, we reaffirmed our firm commitment to the complete denuclearization of the DPRK in accordance with relevant UN Security Council resolutions."

The South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs changed this to "denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula" and released it in a press release that day.

The joint statement further emphasized the "importance of maintaining peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait," expressed "concern over the increasing frequency of destabilizing acts near Taiwan," and publicly called for a "peaceful resolution of cross-strait issues," opposing "China's military demonstrations against Taiwan."

Conversely, Foreign Minister Cho Hyun stated in a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on the 17th that "South Korea respects the 'one China' principle," a statement the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs released in a press release that day.

The South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs subsequently deleted this statement from the press release. The Chosun Ilbo reported on the 27th with the headline, "Foreign Minister Cho Hyun: 'It Would Be Fantastic if Trump and Kim Jong-un Meet Soon'."

The Hankyoreh reported the headline, "Foreign Minister Cho Hyun: 'I Hope Trump Exercises Leadership and Brings North Korea to the Dialogue Table'" with the subheadings, "In an AP Interview, 'It Would Be Fantastic if the Two Meet'; 'Tell President Lee I'm Willing to Engage in North Korea Issues'."

The Kyunghyang Shinmun reported the headline, "Foreign Minister Cho Hyun Tells AP: 'It Would Be Fantastic if Trump and Kim Jong-un Meet'."

The Hankyoreh was the only one to report the AP, stating, "He said, 'President Lee Jae-myung has made it clear to President Trump that he will not take the 'driver's seat,' stepping back to the role of 'pacemaker.' We don't care if we don't take the initiative on North Korea issues, and we want President Trump to exercise leadership and bring North Korea to the dialogue table.'" The Hankyoreh described the move as a "stepping down" rather than a "demotation."

Minister Cho appears to have cooperated with Republican President Trump's campaign claims of "ending the war within a month of being elected" and "Biden's incompetence caused the Ukraine war." Based on this, he declared "full delegation of authority over the security system to Trump by exaggerating the escalation of the crisis in the Korean Peninsula."

President Trump's "upfront" remarks clearly identified "Korea" when he signed an executive order on the TikTok agreement with China on the 25th, saying, "As you already know, we're receiving $550 billion from Japan and $350 billion from Korea. This is upfront."

Lee Jae-myung's Democratic Party of Korea, a pro-Republican party with a hardline US conservative stance, has been stymied by the pro-Trump administration's tough trade agreements. To increase its reliance on Trump, the Democratic Party of Korea has shifted from a strategy of "stimulating anti-American sentiment" to a Trump-only stance, strengthening its hardline conservative stance.
