검찰총장 징계위가 ‘채널A 수사방해’를 ‘감찰방해’와 분리해 검언유착에 대한 공수처 수사의 토대를 구축했다.
법무부 검사징계위는 15일 17시간의 회의에서 징계혐의중 하나로 묶은 ‘채널A 감찰방해 및 수사방해’에 대해 협의를 분리해 각각 인정하며 정직2개월 결정을 다음날 새벽에 발표했다.

검언유착 조사를 개시했던 방송통신위원회는 5월 9일 조사에서 채널A 대표가 “현직 검사장과 채널A 기자가 통화를 한 게 맞다고 진술했다”고 MBC가 보도하면서 공식화됐고, 언론들은 10일 전날 방통위에서 채널A 재승인 관련 의견을 청취하는 자리에서 ‘채널A 기자와 통화한 사람이 녹취록에 등장하는 윤석열 검찰총장의 최측근 검사장이 맞냐’는 질문을 받고, 채널A 대표가 처음에는 맞다고 시인했다가 나중에는 해당 발언을 바꿔달라고 요청한 것으로 알려졌다고 보도하면서 언론전쟁이 시작됐다.
