낮아짐으로

몸을 수면 아래로 내리듯
그렇게 서서히 자신을 낮추어 본다.
낮아지면 숨이 막혀 죽을 것 같지만
생명은 깨어나고 새로워진다.
채우고 싶지만 채울 수 없었던 공간이
비로소 채워지기 시작한다.
평온과 기쁨이 서서히 흘러들고
자존(自尊)이 차오른다.
비우고 낮아짐으로
영혼과 생명은 서서히 익어간다.
[마태복음 20:20-28]
그때에 세베대의 아들의 어머니가 그 아들들을 데리고 예수께 와서 절하며 무엇을 구하니. 예수께서 이르시되 무엇을 원하느냐 이르되. 나의 이 두 아들을 주의 나라에서 하나는 주의 우편에, 하나는 주의 좌편에 않게 명하소서.
예수께서 대답하여 이르시되 너희는 너희가 구하는 것을 알지 못하는도다. 내가 마시려는 잔을 너희가 마실 수 있느냐. 그들이 말하되 할 수 있나이다. 이르시되 너희가 과연 내 잔을 마시려니와 내 좌우편에 앉는 것은 내가 주는 것이 아니라 내 아버지께서 누구를 위하여 예비하셨든지 그들이 얻을 것이니라.
열 제자가 듣고 그 두 형제에 대하여 분히 여기거늘. 예수께서 제자들을 불러다가 이르시되 이방인의 집권자들이 그들을 임의로 주관하고 그 고관들이 그들에게 권세를 부리는 줄을 너희가 알거니와. 너희 중에는 그렇지 않아야 하나니 너의 중에 누구든지 크고자 하는 자는 너희를 섬기는 자가 되고, 너희 중에 누구든지 으뜸이 되고자 하는 자는 너희의 종이 되어야 하리라.
인자가 온 것은 섬김을 받으러 함이 아니라, 도리어 섬기려 하고 자기 목숨을 많은 사람의 대속물로 주려 함이니라.
Then Zebedee’s wife came to Jesus and brought her sons. She bowed before Jesus and asked him to do something for her.
Jesus said, “What do you want?”
She said, “Promise that one of my sons will sit at your right side in your kingdom and the other at your left.”
So Jesus said to the sons, “You don’t understand what you are asking. Can you drink from the cup that I must drink from?”
The sons answered, “Yes, we can.”
Jesus said to them, “It is true that you will drink from the cup that I drink from. But it is not for me to say who will sit at my right or my left. My father has decided who will do that. He has prepared those places for them.”
The other ten followers heard this and were angry with the two brothers. So Jesus called the flowers together. He said, “You know that the rulers of the non-Jewish people love to show their power over the people. And their important leaders love to use all their authority over the people. But it should not be that way with you. Whoever wants to be your leader must be your servant. Whoever wants to be first must serve the rest of you like slave.
