시편 77편
Remembering God’s Wonders
시편 77장 11절 : 곧 여호와의 일들을 기억하며 주께서 옛적에 행하신 기이한 일을 기억하리이다
시편 77편에는 서로 다른 두 개의 목소리가 나옵니다.
처음은 부르짖음입니다. 시인은 손을 들고 밤새 기도하지만, 마음은 위로받지 못하고 점점 더 깊은 절망에 빠집니다.
그런데 이 탄식은 찬양으로 이어집니다. 시인은 현실의 침묵에서 시선을 거두고, "곧 여호와의 일들을 기억하며 주께서 옛적에 행하신 기이한 일을 기억하리이다"하며 과거 하나님의 행하신 일들을 기억하기 시작합니다. 그리고 이스라엘을 인도하셨던 하나님의 손길, 바다 가운데 길을 내신 구원의 사건들을 떠올리며 찬양을 드립니다.
현실은 바뀌지 않았습니다. 하나님은 여전히 침묵하고 계시고 시인을 둘러싼 상황도 나아지지 않습니다. 그러나 아삽의 기억이 믿음을 일으키고 믿음이 다시 찬양을 가능하게 한것입니다.
시편 77편을 통해 찬양은 고통을 이겨낸 결과가 아니라 고통 한가운데에서 하나님께 나아가기 위해 내딛는 걸음이라는 것을 알 수 있습니다.
믿음은 현실을 외면하라 말하지 않습니다. 오히려 어떤 현실이든 - 그것이 주님의 침묵일지라도 - 하나님을 기억하고, 그리고 그 기억으로 다시 일어서라고 말합니다.
우리의 찬양이 언제나 담대하고 아름다운 것은 아닙니다. 어떤 날은 눈물로 시작하고, 어떤 날은 겨우 기억 하나에 기대어 버티며, 어떤 날은 입술로 흉내만 내는 찬양일 수도 있습니다. 그러나 시편 77편은 그 눈물과 울부짖음 위에도 찬양은 자라고 있고 그 길을 주님께서 친히 인도하신다 말하고 있습니다.
오늘 하루 혹시 무거운 마음으로 하루를 시작하게 된다면 성령님께서 도우셔서 우리의 기억을 깨우시고 하나님께서 행하신 놀라운 일들을 기억할 수 있기를 바랍니다.
Psalm 77:11 : I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.
Psalm 77 carries two distinct voices.
At first, it is a cry. The psalmist lifts his hands and prays through the night, yet his heart finds no comfort and sinks deeper into despair.
But the lament does not end there. It turns into praise. The psalmist shifts his gaze away from the silence of the present and declares, “I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.” He recalls God’s mighty works, the hand that led Israel, the salvation that made a path through the sea, and in doing so, he begins to praise.
The circumstances have not changed. God remains silent, and the psalmist’s situation has not improved. Yet memory awakens faith, and faith makes praise possible again.
Through Psalm 77 we see that praise is not the outcome of suffering resolved but the step we take toward God in the very midst of suffering.
Faith does not deny reality. Instead, it urges us, whatever the reality may be, even if it is God’s silence, to remember the Lord and rise again through that remembrance.
Our praise is not always bold or beautiful. Some days it begins in tears, some days it clings to a single memory, and some days it may be no more than words mouthed faintly. Yet Psalm 77 tells us that even on tears and cries, praise grows, and the Lord Himself leads us on that path.
So if today begins with a heavy heart, may the Holy Spirit awaken our memory so that we remember the wonders God has done, and through that remembrance find strength to walk forward.
