인공지능(chatGPT)과 함께하는 강의 준비

바야흐로 증강지능 시대!

얼마 전 ODA 사업하는 기관으로부터 강의 요청이 왔다.

ODA 사업이란 "공적개발원조(ODA: Official Development Assistance)란 정부를 비롯한 공공기관이 개발도상국의 경제 발전과 사회복지 증진을 목표로 제공하는 원조를 의미하며, 개발도상국 정부, 지역, 또는 국제기구에 제공되는 자금이나 기술협력을 포함하는 개념"으로 정의할 수 있다.

쉽게 말하면 개발도상국을 돕는 사업이다. 예전에는 우리나라가 선진국에게 도움을 받았으나 이제는 다른 나라를 도울 수 있는 국력이 되었다.

강의 요청 기관에서는 2022년 마지막 날(12/31)에 '나이지리아'에서 온 교장 선생님들을 대상으로 연수하는 프로그램을 운영하는데 교장 선생님들에게 우리나라의 교육현장의 현황을 생생하게 전달하고, 교장선생님들의 열정을 불러일으킬 강의자가 필요하다고 했다. 연락을 주신 분의 간곡한 요청이 있어서 '내가 적임자인지는 모르겠지만 그렇게 요청하시니 해보겠다'라고 말하고 말았다.

원래 학교 관리자나 교육청 장학사님들을 대상으로 한 강의도 종종 하던 터라 어렵지 않을 거라 생각했다. 

하지만...

나이지리아 교장선생님들이기 때문에 영어로 강의를 해달라는 요청이었다.

조금 망설여졌으나, 시간이 조금 남아 있으므로 승낙했다.

항상 그렇듯 시간은 손쌀같이 지나가고 어느덧 원고를 제출하는 마감시한이 다가왔다.

강의 내용에 대한 구상은 되어 있었으나, 뭔가 매끈한 전개와 임팩트 있는 내용이 정리되지 않았다.

얼마 전 chatGPT(거대언어모델 인공지능, https://openai.com/blog/chatgpt/) 와 안면도 트고 대화도 몇 차례 나눴던 터라

이 친구의 도움을 받으면 어떨까 싶어서 사이트에 다시 접속했다.

보통의 특강 준비는 이렇게 이루어진다.

1. 이전에 비슷한 특강의 소스 찾아보기

2. 이번 강의 주제와 비슷한 슬라이드 다 모으기

3. 슬라이드 테마를 고르거나 표지 디자인을 PPT 디자이너를 통해 선택하기

4. 강의 주제와 주요 메시지에 맞게 수정하기

5. 슬라이드 순서 조정하기

6. 머릿속에서 강의 시뮬레이션을 하고 마무리하기

가장 핵심적인 부분이 4번인데, 

머릿속에 아이디어가 떠오른 것을 정리하거나 이전에 읽었던 책이나 논문 등에서 중요한 포인트를 잡아서 슬라이드에 옮기는 방식으로 이루어진다.

이번 강의를 준비하면서 몇 가지 자료와 지식이 필요했다.

3. 학교 관리자의 역할 및 필요한 역량

chatGPT에게 물었다.

질문은 한국어로 만들었지만 구글 번역기를 돌려 영어 문장으로 변환하고 점검한 후, chatGPT에게 물었다.

내 머릿속에서 맴돌았던 거의 모든 내용을 한 번에 영어로 정리해 주었다. 

처음 내용이 맘에 들었기에 계속 질문을 던졌다.

"교장선생님들의 열정을 불러일으키려면 어떻게 하면 좋을까?"

이런 식으로 내가 고민하던 내용을 chatGPT에게 물어보니 영어로 순식간에 답변을 준다.

강의를 준비하다가 문득 나이지리아의 교육역사가 궁금해졌다.

평소 같으면 구글이나 네이버에서 검색했을 텐데, 바로 chatGPT에게 물어보았다.

역시 적절한 답변을 준다.

이런 식으로 강의를 준비하니, 평소의 준비시간보다 훨씬 적게 든다.

심지어 중간에 필요한 이미지가 있었는데, Stable Diffusion 에게 필요한 그림을 그려달라고 했더니

원하는 이미지를 그려준다.

Stable Diffusion은 내가 글로 설명하면 이해하고 거기에 맞는 그림이나 이미지를 생성해 주는 인공지능 모델이다. 저작권에 위배되지 않는 청개구리 사진이 필요했는데, 뚝딱 찾아 아니 생성해 준다.

(잘 살펴보면 이미지가 완벽하지 않다는 것을 알 수 있다. 이제 정말 인간의 비판적 사고력이 중요한 시대가 되었다.)

이런...

놀라운 세상이다.

내게 필요한 지식은 chatGPT가 나보다 더 빠르고 명확하게 찾아주고 설명해 준다.

물론 일부 영역일 수 있으나, 지금 이 정도로 이번 강의를 준비하는 데에는 충분했다.

(한 가지 아쉬운 부분은 내용은 훌륭하나 출처가 제공되지 않아서 명확한 근거로 사용하기에는 조심스럽다. 다행히 내가 인용한 책의 내용과 비슷해서 그대로 쓰기로 했다. 만약 다른 내용이었다면 반드시 검증하는 과정이 필요하리라 생각했다.)

오늘은 이 친구와 작업하는 것이 재미있었다.

앞으로는 대부분의 사람들은 증강지능으로 이렇게 일을 처리하겠구나!

(이렇게 인공지능과 함께 작업하는 지능을 '협업지능' 또는 '증강지능'이라고 한다.)

강의 원고를 보내놓고 이 글을 작성하는 지금은... 걱정이 든다.

내년에는 chatGPT의 다음버전 GPT4가 나올 거라는데 어떻게 될까 고민된다.
