나는 강물

나는

강물

산속의 작은 샘물에서 태어나

돌부리를 넘고

풀잎 사이를 스치며

천천히 세상으로 나아간다

나는

맑을 때도, 흙탕일 때도 있지만

흐르기를 멈춘 적은 없지

큰 바위도

나를 꺾지 못하지

나는

모든 것을 안고 흘러

때로는 아이들의 웃음을 싣고

때로는 이별의 눈물을 태우며

넓은 바다를 향한다네

벗이여,

사라질까 두려워

흐르기를 멈추지 말라.

그대는 흘러서

늘 새롭게 태어나고,

영원하지 않는가

나는

형태를 바꾸어도

흐름을 멈추지 않는

영원한 강물

하늘로, 구름으로, 다시 비로 돌아와

새로운 강으로 흐르네

Who Am I? (20)

I am

the river

Born from a small spring in the mountains,
leaping over stones,
brushing past blades of grass,
I slowly journey into the world

I am
clear at times, muddied at others,
yet I have never ceased to flow
Even great rocks
cannot bend my course

I am
one who carries all within my current—
at times cradling children’s laughter,
at times bearing the embers of farewell tears,
always moving toward the wide, open sea

My friend,

do not halt your flow
for fear of vanishing
In flowing, you are forever reborn,
and thus, eternal

I am
the everlasting river
that changes form but never ceases
Rising to the sky, becoming clouds,
returning as rain,
I flow again as a new river
