[책] The Power of Now

영어 원서 읽기

I had never imagined that this book would be one of the best self-help books.

Eckhart Tolle used more than 200 pages just to elaborate the meaning and importance of 'Now.'

Being in a state of total presence,  all pain would go away. This state is accepting what is,

even in a seemingly 'negative' situation.

What looks like postive or negative circumstance is just a projection of one's mind - an illusion.

In other words, happiness and unhappiness is a state of mind and beyond this there is peace.

Tolle also talks about being connected to your inner body.

This can be done by meditation and focusing on energy of every small part of your body.

To 'achieve' being in the moment, like Tolle, you have to "die before you die (p.196)."

Of course, it's not easy and you have to keep on practicing it.

In most cases, this can be done when you get to 'near-death' situations like becoming extremely sick.

Lastly, "surrender" is a powerful state. However, there are mistaken views towards this concept. It's not accepting the environment in a passive way and not making any plans. Tolle expresses this as "yielding to rather than opposing the flow of life (p.205)."

The Power of Now is such a spiritual and powerful book. It is also very realistic - meaning it does not convey abstract meanings. What Tolle says are so real and practical. This should be read by many people for a long time.

There is a korean translation version, but I read in english to 'hear' Tolle's words directly.

I'm so grateful that there is original version in bookstore and that I ran into this book.
