And in the end, that's as far as Winnie and I went that day. Maybe we both felt we'd come too far too fast. Maybe we both realized that growing up doesn't have to be so much a straight line, as a series of advances, and retreats. Maybe we just felt like swinging.  But what ever it was, Winnie and I made an unspoken pact that day... to stay kids.. for a little while longer.

결국 그렇게 위니와 나는 같이 그네를 타는 것에 만족했다. 아마도 우리 생각엔 우리 관계가 너무 멀리 너무 빨리 가고 있다고 느꼈는지도 모르겠다. 어쩌면 우린 성장한다는 것을 너무 직선으로만 이해할 필요는 없다는 것을 깨달았는지도 모른다. 성장한다는 것이 무엇이든간에 그네를 타듯 전진과 후퇴를 경험하는 것도 좋을지도 모르겠다. 결국 위니와 난 그날 조금만 더 아이로 남아있기로 무언의 약속을 한 것이다.
