다 같이 "Happy, new millenium!"
12/31 New Millenium
I decided to take a day off from travelling. My children wouldn't come along with me. The last day of the year 1999. I had better clean my sister's house. What should I do? Let's clean the blinds. For the first time in along time, I am lighthearted.
Yoo JIn and Jae Yup watched video and played with Spacy, the Jindo dog. First, I clean Willi's room, Ann's room and then the living room. Whew, I need more energy. It's already close to dinner time, so I had finished cleaning the livingroom in a hurry.
The family went shopping to the Mart and bought a millenium cake. Ann trimmed the shrimp well. Yoo Jin and Jae Yup helped Ann but that annoyed Ann. They peeled off the skin of the shrimp and covered them with wet flour. My brother-in-law fried them.
After the dinner, my sister turned on the Karaoque machine (singing machine) and we sang together. I urged my brother-in-law to sing, but he refused with a shy-face smile. We sang our heart's content and watched TV waiting for the New Year.
My brother in law said a festival takes place every year on New Year's Day in Pasadena. The Rose Bowl (football game) is also held on that day. On that parade, there is a procession of many flower floats. Many people spend a night covered with blankets and sleep in the street to see this event. The TV showed the people camping out on the street.
At Last, the Millenium had come. There were sound of fireworks going off here and there around town. We simultaneously heard the sound of the fireworks going off on TV. We shouted, "Happy New Millenium!" and cut the millenium cake. I woke Yoo Jin, the sleepyhead, up and had some cake.
"How was Young (my husband) yesterday?" I wondered. I think about him a little. The new year begins. Now, the new millenium begins. One of my wishes, to great the New Millenium in America, has come true.
