유니버설 스튜디오 2000. 1. 9
이번엔 실수하지 말자. 어제 '자신만만 세계여행'책에서 유니버설 스튜디오 부분을 읽고 오늘의 일정을 하나하나 머릿속에 입력한다. 지난번 디즈니랜드에서의 잘못을 만회하기 위해서라도 오늘은 즐거워야 한다.
다른 때와 마찬가지로 배낭 가득 하루의 식량을 넣는다. "어휴, 여행 끝나고 내 어깨 온전하려나 모르겠다."
일단 안으로 들어서니 디즈니랜드에서 느꼈던 막막함이 다가온다.
1단계, 분노의 역류를 타는 것이다. 분노의 역류란 이름의 영화에 나온 한 장면을 체험하는 것이다. 순서를 기다리고 놀이기구에 몸을 집어넣는다. 불이 꺼지고 눈 앞 가득 화면이 나타난다. 캬악, 우린 공룡에게 잡아먹혔다. 진은 무섭다고 소리를 질러댄다. "진아, 눈 감아, 눈감으면 괜찮아."
2단계, ET-트램을 타고 별나라를 여행한다.
3단계, 쥐라기 공원 - 이것은 배를 타고 가는 것이다. 3달러 주고 비닐옷 3개를 산다. 몸을 비닐 속에 숨기고 배에 올라 중생대 공룡시대를 탐험하는 것이다. 평화스러운 밀림을 탐험하고 동굴을 통과하면서 깜깜해지고 갑자기 폭포 아래로 뚝 떨어진다. 쥐라기 공원의 하이라이트다. 모두들 신나게 웃는다. 웃지 않는 사람을 보지 못했다.
(1달러 아끼는 방법: 기념품 가게 왼쪽으로 들어가서 배를 타고 가게의 뒤쪽에서 배에서 내린다. 가게 뒤쪽에 가면 배를 탄 후 벗어놓은 비닐 옷이 쌓여 있다. 진작 알았다면 3달러 아끼는 건데.)
4단계...... 이곳에서 하는 것은 재미없는 것이 없다. 날이 어둑어둑해지는데, 마지막 공연이라며 어서 오라고 소리를 지르는 어부가 있다. 마구 뛰어 간신히 들어간다. 하마터면 못 볼 뻔했네. 바다에 쾌속정이 왔다 갔다 하고 비행기가 내려앉는다. 굉장하다. 오늘 하루 즐거웠다.
Jan. 9th, 2000 Universal Studios
Let's not make any mistakes this time. I went over today's schedule as I read about the Universal Studios in "Self-Confident World Travel." We need to enjoy ourselves so as to redeem our unsuccessful visit to Disneyland. As usual, I put today's food in my bag. "Whew, I don't know if my shoulders will be OK after our journey."
I didn't know where to go first when I stepped into the Universal Studios. For starters, we took the Daft of Rage. The Draft of Rage is a ride that allows you to experience a moment in the movie, the Draft of Rage. We took a ride after waiting for our turn. The light went out and there was a big screen in front of us. Yieks, we are about to be eaten by a big dinosaur. Yoo Jin cried out in fear. " Yoo Jin, close your eyes. It's OK if you close your eyes."
For the second leg (of our journey), we went on ET- traveling Universal riding tram. For the third leg, we went through Jurassic Park on a boat. I bought three plastic hooded ponchos for 3 dollars. You explore the Mesozoic era, the age of dinosaur wearing a poncho. We passed a peaceful jungle and when were passing through a cave, it become dark and the boat suddenly fall down to the bottom of a waterfall. It was the highlight of the ride. Everyone laughed out. There wasn't a single person that wasn't laughing. (A way to spare a $1: Go to the rear of the shop and you can find many plastic ponchos left there by people getting off the boat.)
The fourth leg: just about every program was interesting. As it got dark, a fisherman shouted out to announce the last performance of the day. We ran and just made it. We almost missed it, had it not been for my spotting him. In a make believe sea, there was a speedboat going around here and there, then a plane crashed. It was great. I really enjoyed today.
