의심하라. 의문을 품어라. 당연하게 받아들이지 마라.

수많은 것들이 눈으로 들어온다. 내 의지와 상관없이, 나는 보고, 듣고, 느낀다. 모든 감각은 무방비 상태로 열려 있다. ‘본다’, ‘듣는다’가 아닌, ‘보인다’, ‘들린다’가 우리의 상태다. 눈이라는 통로는 열린 문처럼 세상의 모든 것을 받아들인다. 그러나 들어온 것들의 목적지는 눈이 아니다. 눈은 단지 통로일 뿐, 모든 것은 내 안, 내 영혼에 눈처럼 조용히, 계속해서 쌓여간다.
우리는 너무 쉽게 받아들인다. 이 눈 안의 세계가 전부인 것처럼, 이 감각들이 진실의 전부인 것처럼. 나는 보이는 대로, 들리는 대로 그저 받아들이는 존재일까? 우리는 어쩌면 감각의 노예처럼 살아간다. 보이는 것이 전부이고, 들리는 것이 진실이라 믿으며. 하지만 만약, 이 모든 것이 거대한 환상이라면? 우리가 본다고 믿지만, 실은 보지 못하는 것이 더 많은 존재라면? 보이지 않는 것에 더 큰 진실이 담겨 있다면?
눈 밖의 세계를 상상해 보라. 이 좁은 감각의 터널 너머에 존재할 무한한 가능성들을. 지금 우리가 경험하는 모든 것은 거대한 빙산의 일각일지도 모른다. 감각이라는 통로를 지나 영혼에 닿은 수많은 경험들은, 때로는 왜곡되고, 때로는 간과된다. 하지만 진실은 종종 그 바깥, 눈에 보이지 않는 경계 너머에서 우리를 기다리고 있다.
일상을 기록하는 다이어리, 눈물을 닦은 휴지 같은 개인적 작업에서 벗어나는 유일한 방법은 의심하는 것이다. 눈 안에 갇힌 존재가 아니라, 눈을 바라보는 존재가 되어보는 것. 감각에 휘둘리는 것이 아니라, 감각을 관찰하는 자가 되어보는 것이다. 의심하라. 의문을 품어라. 당연하게 받아들이지 마라. “이것이 다가 아니다”라는 믿음, 그 시야가 바로 영감의 시작이다.
진정한 창작은 보이는 것 너머를 보려는 의지에서 출발한다. 그것은 기존의 프레임을 해체하고, 새로운 프레임을 구성하는 행위다. 그렇게 새로운 시선이 생겨나고 세상은 넓어진다. 눈 밖의 세계가 눈 안의 세상과 섞이는 그 지점에 예술이 있고, 예술가가 있다.

Art x Shift
Countless things enter through the eyes. Regardless of my will, I see, hear, and feel. All my senses remain defenseless and open. It is not that I see or hear—rather, things are seen and heard. This is our state of being. The eye is a passage, an open door that lets in everything from the world. But the destination of what comes in is not the eye. The eye is merely a conduit—everything quietly, continuously accumulates like falling snow in my inner self, in my soul.
We accept too easily. As if the world within our eyes is all there is, as if these sensations are the whole of truth. Am I merely a being that passively accepts whatever is seen and heard? Perhaps we live as slaves to our senses, believing what is visible is everything, and what is audible must be true. But what if all of this is a grand illusion? What if we are beings who think we see, but in reality miss most of what truly matters? What if the greater truth lies in what is unseen?
Imagine the world outside the eye. Beyond this narrow tunnel of sensation lies an infinite field of possibility. Everything we experience may be only the tip of a vast iceberg. The countless experiences that pass through our senses and reach the soul can often be distorted—or overlooked entirely. Yet truth often waits for us outside, beyond the edge of what can be seen.
The only way to move beyond the diary of daily life, beyond the tissue that wipes our tears—the overly personal act of making—is to question. Not to be a being trapped within the eye, but to become one who observes the eye itself. Not to be swayed by sensation, but to become one who watches sensation from the outside. Doubt. Ask questions. Do not accept things as they are. The belief that this is not all there is—that very vision is the beginning of inspiration.
True creation begins with the will to see beyond what is seen. It is an act of dismantling the existing frame and forming a new one. Through that, a new gaze emerges, and the world expands. At the point where the world outside the eye merges with the world within, there lies art. There stands the artist.

아트쉬프트는 예술이 단순한 결과물에 그치지 않고,
예술과 삶, 작가와 관객이 함께 어우러지는 공간입니다. 작업실, 전시공간, 카페, 굿즈샵이 결합된 이곳은 예술가의 창작 과정과 그 안에 담긴 고민, 서사를 자연스럽게 나누며, 예술이 일상 속에 스며드는 문화를 만들어가고자 합니다.
We created Art x Shift with the intention of transforming the way we as a visual artist couple engage with art. Art x Shift is a space where art goes beyond being a mere outcome, becoming a place where art, life, and the connection between artists and audiences coexist. With a combination of a studio, exhibition space, café, and a shop, this space naturally shares the process of creation, the challenges, and narratives within, while fostering a culture where art seamlessly integrates into everyday life.
