DEPTH
1935년에서 1945년 사이에 쓰인 시집을 통해,
나는 일제 강점기의 억압 속에서도 드러난 인간
내면의 자유를 발견했다. 현실은 절망과 고통으로
가득했지만, 시인들은 강한 자유의지로 진실과 내면의소리를 전했다.
나는 석고가 굳어지는 특성을 활용해 제한적이고
물리적인 현실을 표현했다. 여기에 시의 압축된
단어들을 더해 인간 내면의 자유와 깊이를 드러내고자
했다. 석고는 고정된 틀 속에서도 자유 의지가 어떻게 발현되는지를 상징하며, 그 옆에 놓인 시인의 글은
억압 속에서 피어난 자유와 인간적 깊이를 담고 있다.
이 시들은 단순히 과거의 기록을 넘어, 인간의 본질적인 목소리를 담아내며 우리의 내면에 공명한다.
이 작업은 제한된 현실 속에서도 인간이 가진 내면의 깊이를 표현한 작품이다. 석고와 시를 통해, 억압이
자유를 완전히 막을 수 없음을, 그리고 인간은 내면의
세계를 통해 현실을 초월할 수 있음을 시각적으로
드러냈다.

Through anthologies of poetry written between 1935 and 1945, I discovered the boundless
freedom of the human spirit, even under the
oppression of the Japanese occupation.
While their reality was filled with despair and
suffering, the poets expressed their inner
voices and truths with a strong will for freedom.
Using the hardening properties of plaster,
I sought to represent our limited and physical
reality. Alongside this, I incorporated the
condensed words of poetry to reveal the
essence of human freedom and depth.
The plaster symbolizes how free will manifests even within fixed boundaries, while the poetry
placed next to it embodies the freedom and
profound humanity that emerged under
oppression. These poems transcend mere
historical records, resonating as an essential
voice of humanity and connecting deeply with our inner selves.
This work captures the depth of the human
spirit within a constrained reality. Through
plaster and poetry, it visually demonstrates that oppression cannot fully suppress freedom and that humanity can transcend reality through
the vast expanse of the inner world.
