로마서 10

많은 사람들이 예수를 믿기 시작했습니다.
그들은 예수의 제자들이 가르치는 하나님의 말씀을 들었습니다. 그들은 음식과 옷, 돈을 서로 나누기도 했습니다.
그러던 어느 날 그들 중 몇 명이 몹시 화를 내며 말했습니다. "이건 불공평해요! 우리는 먹을 게 부족하단 말이요!"
제자들은 예수를 믿는 사람들을 모두 불러 모아 말했습니다. "선량하고 지혜로운 사람 일곱 명을 뽑아 사람들을 돕게 하시오. 그들은 식량을 맡고, 우리는 기도와 하나님 말씀 전하기를 맡을 것이오."
모두들 좋은 방안이라 생각하고 일곱 사람을 뽑았습니다.
그중 한 사람이 스데반이었습니다.
스데반은 예수를 무척 사랑했으며, 예수에 대해 사람들에게 이야기하는 일을 사랑했습니다.
그러나 유대인 지도자들은 예수에 대해 사람들이 듣게 되는 것을 원치 않았습니다.
그들은 군인들을 보내 스데반을 체포하도록 했습니다.
스데반은 유대인 지도자들에게 예수에 대해 말하기 시작했습니다.
그들은 듣지 않았고, 몹시 화를 냈습니다.
그때 스데반은 천국에서 하나님 옆에 있는 예수의 모습을 보았습니다. "저기 예수님이 계신다!" 스데반이 말했습니다.
유대인 지도자들은 귀를 막고 스데반이 예수에 대해 말하는 것을 듣지 않았습니다.
그들은 스데반을 도시 밖으로 끌고 갔습니다. 그리고 그에게 돌을 던지기 시작했습니다.
스데반은 기도했습니다. "예수님, 제발 저 유대인 지도자들을 용서해 주세요."
기도를 마치고 스데반은 숨을 거두었습니다.
Many people began to believe in Jesus.
They listened to Jesus' disciples teach about God. They shared their food and clothes and money.
One day, some people became angry. They said, "It is not fair! Our people do not have enough food!"
Jesus' disciples called together all the followers of Jesus. They said, "Choose seven good and wise men to help people. They will be in charge of food. We will be in charge of praying and teaching God's Word."
Everyone thought this was a good idea. The people chose seven men.
One of these men was named Stephen.
Stephen was a man who loved Jesus very much. He loved telling people about Jesus.
The Jewish leaders did not want the people to hear about Jesus.
They sent soldiers to arrest Stephen.
Stephen began to tell the Jewish leaders about Jesus.
The leaders did not listen. They became very angry.
Stephen saw Jesus standing in heaven next to God. He said, "I see Jesus!"
The leaders covered their ears so they could not hear Stephen talk about Jesus.
They took Stephen outside the city. They began to throw the rocks at Stephen.
Stephen began to pray. "Jesus, please forgive those Jewish leaders."
When he had said this, he fell asleep.
