Started French
as both hobby and study
A french philosopher, Michel Foucault(1926~1984), would be the reason I start French.I started studying french since last night. actually, I've felt the need or pressure of french because professors said I need to study in france and I need to read foucault's book in original french to understand not translator's intention or thought but foucault's. But I was worried about starting french. By the case of English, as I said in past article, I'm used to using it because of Korean mandate curriculum, which emphasizes English more than Korean. But, by the case of French, I never studied it and it's so strange for me. In my life, english been everywhere. I heard rock music like Metallica, Led Zepplin and Extreme and hiphop music like usher and megan thee stallion. I also watched movie like Mission impossible and Harry Potter. Those I said are made in counties whose native language are English. So I can sure that I grew up with English culture. Futhermore, I learned English in school since I was 10. So, It would be weird that I'm not frendly with English. In addition, English was my favorite subject when I was student.
But, for myself like this , professors recommend me to study french. English is also important language for everyone include me, french is especially important for me. I agree it. And I feel the need and importance of french. But I don't have a courage to start it. I thought if I start it, it would be very hard for me because It's very strange language to me. So I've run from the pressure of need of french since professor's advice. And I thought about not studying Michel Foucault's philosophy.
But, I started french yesterday because of one phone call. It encouraged me to start strange langauge and I got courage from him. As soon as phone call ended, I started studying it with youtube. In 4th industial revolution age, I can learn everything in internet without a tution fee. There are so many kind videos(or lectures?) in youtube as I searched "프랑스어 초급". And I found suitable lecture for me. In fact, that was the first video I clicked and I didn't watch other videos. Given I found suitable lecture at a time, internet is very good tool to get information.
Because it's first day I study it, I learned only french alphabet. There are many common ground between English and French. So I can learn it easily than expected. Interested it, I also studied it today and I'll study it tomorrow too. It's more interesting than I thought to study french. I'm happy to find something to do as both hobby and study. I'm expecting the time I use it fluently like English. If it comes true, May be I will write an article in french?
I think person is like a reed. I've run away from french til afternoon of monday, I'm interested in french since a night of monday. Like this, because person can be affected by something, he can make mind differently. So person is like reed. Although I can't sure I go France, if french become the part of me, it will be powerful weapon for my life. So, I will keep going with it.
