유원은 제이콥의 편지를 순식간에 읽어내려간 뒤에 캐나다에서 제이콥과 함께 지낸다면 어떤 기분일까 문득 생각해봤다. 그것도 잠시 시험기간이 다가오면서 유원은 기대를 뒤로 하고 묵묵히 공부했다. 공부를 하면 할 수록 이 분야로 내가 가는 것이 맞을까 의심도 들었다. 하지만, 계속해서 흥미가 생기고 질리는 분야는 아니었기에 자신의 선택에 만족했다. 집이나 카페에서 아이패드나 연습장을 활용해 적어가며 공부를 했다. 고등학교에 다녔던 경험을 바탕으로 유원은 하얀 종이에 이해한 개념들을 써보고 문제를 만들고 풀어가며 실전 감각을 스스로 익혔다. 그녀는 공부를 하다가 '대학 가면 원하는 것 다 할 수 있다더니 그게 전부가 아니였어. 이제 내가 책임지고 스스로 해야 할 것들이 늘었네'라는 새로운 깨달음을 얻게 되었다. 유원은 평소 성실하고 열정적인 성격이어서 시험을 잘 마무리하고 며칠 뒤, 드디어 한가한 시간을 가지게 되었다. 이런 게 대학생이구나 하고 기분이 좋다가도 뭔가 이렇게 하는 게 맞나 하는 느낌도 들었다. 유원은 다음날 바로 일어나서 제이콥에게 보낼 편지를 쓰기 시작했다. 편지를 쓰는 것이 신나서 그런지 눈도 잘 떠지는 하루였다. 유원은 노트북을 켠 뒤, 여름 플레이리스트를 들으며, 편지를 써내려갔다.
Dear Jacob,
Hi! It's been a while since we send letters to each other. Your descriptive letter make me want to go to Canada. I'm looking forward to the chance which I can go to Canada. How are you today? I'm spending good time because my final exam finally finished and I can get in touch with you again. I want to meet you, so I'm curious about when you have time to meet me.
I have lot's of time to meet you actually. And in this letter, I want to show you my favorite things to do in Korea. First of all, you should go to a museum or gallery in Korea. Our country has a rich history and many great works of art. I like to go to galleries to see masterpieces that contain the thoughts of artists. My favorite painting is "Summer Evening", which contains open messages. Whoever watching these art can see themselves in the person leaning against the desk. That person can be you thinking of something you like on a summer evening. I like this kind of art that makes people become part of the art and blend with it. Second, I liked to introduce you the place where you can make art toy. I went there with my mom when I was younger than before. My mother knew that I like art, so she made some time to took me there. I can't forget this memory because she thought of me and I made adorable forest girl with marker on the art toy. I want to go there with you and make each other's toy. I want to go to nature space like beach with you to spend cool summer vacation with you.
