유원과 제이콥은 드디어 만날 일정을 잡았다. 6월 27일. 덥기도 덥지만, 둘 다 여유가 나고 만날 수 있는 유일한 시기였기에 유원은 기뻤다. 물론 제이콥도 자신의 제2의 고향인 한국에 얼마 만에 가는 건지 비행기 내내 무척 기대가 되고 신났다.

Hi! I feel more relaxed today because I’m free! How are you today? As you know, tomorrow will be our first moment of encountering each other. We spent time as penpal friends and I enjoyed it, but I’m even more pleased now because we can finally meet in person.
Today, I spent my time googling seoul's landscapes. I want to show you COEX, Gangnam Station, and the Han River. It's a secret that I went there when I was younger. That's the reason that I should search places to go with you. Actually, you are my first foreign friend. I am an introvert, so I didn't go out usually before. However, this time I'm looking forward tomorrow's big event. I searched a lot and I decided that we should meet at COEX. There is the Byeolmadang Library and Starfield Mall. We can take pictures and look around the shops. Next day, I think we can go to Gangnam Station. We can go to delicious restaurant and enormous bookstore. The bookstore is my favorite place. It will make you relaxed. I know the restaurant that majors noodles, pizza, or Korean traditional food. I think you will like Korean food, so we will go there. I won't tell where it is because it is surprise! Thinking the big event, I want to meet the bright sunlight shines over my head to make me wake up.
Let's create our own favorite memories in Korea. I'm going to sleep now. You will be very tired. Sleep tight and see you tomorrow!

유원과 제이콥은 그다음 날 아침 부랴부랴 나갈 준비를 하고 코엑스로 향했다. 유원은 봉은사역에서 내려 코엑스몰로 연결되는 통로를 통해 지하 1층 코엑스몰 입구에 도착했다. 10분 정도 일찍 도착했기 때문에 유원은 내부를 천천히 구경하고 있었다. 만나기로 한 시간을 훌쩍 넘겨서도 제이콥은 연락도 없고 보이지도 않았다. 유원은 갑자기 불안해지기 시작했다.
그 시각 제이콥은 삼성역에서 내려 지상을 통해 1층 코엑스에 도착했기에 둘은 서로가 도착하지 않은 걸로만 알고 있었다. 제이콥은 자리에서 서성이며 기다리다가 문득 길이 엇갈린 것은 아닌가 하는 생각에 핸드폰을 켰다.
그런데 웬걸? 핸드폰은 전철에서 많이 썼기 때문인지 방전되어 있었고 제이콥은 이곳의 길을 잘 모르기에 설상가상이었다. 그때, 뇌리에 스치는 장소가 하나 있었다. 바로 '별마당 도서관'이었다. 제이콥은 더 이상 머뭇거리지 않고 지나가는 사람에게 위치를 물은 뒤, 지하 1층에 있는 별마당 도서관으로 향했다.
제이콥은 화살표를 따라가다 별마당 도서관에 도착했다. 그런데, 사람이 너무 많아서 도무지 유원을 찾을 수 없었다. 제이콥은 유원의 인스타에 올라간 사진 하나에 의존해서 비슷한 사람을 찾기 시작했다. 그때, 숏컷에 안경을 끼고 순수해 보이는 옅은 미소를 띤 여자애가 눈에 들어왔다. 그 여자애도 자신을 뚫어져라 보고 있는 것을 한눈에 알아볼 수 있었다. 머리를 묶고 있는 인스타 사진과는 확연히 다른 모습이었지만, 무해한 웃음은 그대로였다.
"혹시 너.....?"
"너 제이콥이지?"
"맞아, 어떻게 알았어?"
"직감으로 ㅎㅎ"
"너는 진짜 딱 알아보겠더라."
"근데 우리 어떻게 다시 만났지?"
"글쎼, 우리 서로 통했다!"
둘은 서로를 보며 활짝 웃었다. 처음으로 함께 웃게 된 순간이었다.
