ZOOS : THE WORST FACILITIES IN THE WORL
Animals live with humans on Earth. However, due to human’s resource development, animal’s habitats are devastated. Also, in the past, zoos were made to show human control of nature. In zoos, we can see cute pandas, leopard, lions, and other. Also, zoos are involved in conservation efforts and help protect endangered animals. However, zoos have many weaknesses and problems too. Some problems are related to animals some problems are related to us. The problems are: animals stuck in cages, and the difference of the purpose why we go to zoo.
To begin with, zoos should be banned because of cages which makes animals confined. Animals are also creatures like humans, and their freedom is also important. But cages take away freedom. According to AP OPINION, “many animals are confined to small enclosures that do not replicate the complexity of their natural habits” Also the size of the cage is much smaller than the wild. But some people say that cage is better than wild because there are no predators in cages. However, the area of activity decreases, so animals get stress. If this continues, they can get disease by stress. The signs of stress are: pacing, swaying, and hair-plucking.
Second, zoos should be banned because of the change of purpose why we go to zoo. Education to entertainment. Zoos are facilities, where we understand about animals’ movements and behaviors well if they are free. But animals are confined. They have little space. So, they react unnatural. So, people can’t understand their behaviors well and, proponents of zoos argue that we go to zoo to learn about the value of living beings. However, people view zoos as a place for entertainment, not education. AP OPINION says, “zoos can create a distorted view of wildlife, presenting animals as objects of entertainment”. This proves that people don’t engage in animals and only focus on entertainment.
In conclusion, zoos should be banned because cages make animals confined, and the difference of purpose why people go to zoo. Animals’ freedom is very crucial to them, but people only view animals as a source of their entertainment. There are many problems about zoos. These problems are caused by humans and animals get stressed. To solve this problem, zoos, the worst facility in the world, should be banned.
