난 이 Restart My Love II 라는 곡의
컨셉을 잡을 때 한국어로만 가사
작성하는 걸 생각했기 때문에,
영어 가사를 추가할 생각이 없었다.
그러나 막상 이 곡을 완성하고 나니,
이 곡을 영어로도 발표하는 것이 좀 더
많은 사람들에게 선한 영향력을
전파할 수 있는 것이라고 결정했다.
그래서, 원래 멜로디가 한국어 가사에만
특화되어 있는 걸 감안해서 영어 가사를
덧붙이는 과정을 거쳐야 했고, 그러다보니
원래 영어 가사를 지을때 따라야 할
라임(rhyme) 운율에서 여러 번 벗어나야
원래 한국어 가사의 뜻을 그대로 전달할 수
있었다. 그래서, 내겐 영어 가사에 대한
아쉬움이 남는 버전이다.
하지만 나는, 진심을 담은 메시지는
어떤 방법으로든 사람들에게 그대로
전달된다는 믿음이 있고, 이 영어 버전의 곡도
그렇게 누군가에게
선한 영향력으로 다가갔으면 좋겠다.
When I was in my conceptual stage
when creating the ‘Restart My Love II’ Korean version,
I had no plan to create its lyrics in English.
But after I finished writing this song,
I decided it’d be better to add English lyrics
so that its English version can also spread
positive influence on more people.
So, I had to add English lyrics to a melody
that specifically emanated Korean ballads’ atmosphere.
Because of that reason, there were several places
where I could not strictly adhere to the
English rhyming frame when writing lyrics in English.
But I believe any message containing the speaker/creator’s
truthfulness can be delivered to listeners in any method,
and I hope this English version can also reach
anyone’s heart with such positive influence.
