대명사 중 재귀 대명사에 대한 지도를 해보자.

A: When the subject and the object are the same, we use a reflexive pronoun at the object place.

주어와 목적어가 같으면, 우리는 목적어 자리에 재귀 대명사를 쓴다.

Myself, yourself, himself, herself, ourselves, themselves, itself,: they are reflexive pronouns. ‘myself, yourself, himself, herself, ourselves, themselves, itself’ 나 자신, 너 자신, 그 자신, 그녀 자신, 우리들 자신, 그들 자신, 그것 자체: 이들을 재귀 대명사라고 한다.

I am looking at myself. 나는 나 자신을 보고 있다.

You are looking at yourself. 너는 너 자신을 보고 있다. You are looking at yourselves. 너희는 너희 자신들을 보고 있다.

‘myself’는 자신을 가리키고, ‘yourself’는 자신의 몸 쪽 반대 방향을 가리키고, ‘himself’는 왼손의 엄지손가락만 편 상태에서 몸 안쪽에서 왼쪽으로 엄지를 틀어 바깥쪽을 가리킨다. ‘ herself’는 왼손의 검지만 세운체 오른쪽을 향해 가리킨다. ‘themselves’는 양쪽 다섯 손가락이 모두 바깥을 향해 두세 번 앞뒤로 왔다 갔다 해준다. ‘ourselves’는 두 손바닥이 하늘을 향하게 하고 손가락들이 안쪽을 향해 두세 번 앞뒤로 왔다 갔다 해준다.
