62. Direction words

방향을 나타내는 영어의 표현들을 알아보자. 방향 표현에 익숙해지면 실제 지도를 가지고 찾는 사람과 도와주는 사람의 역할을 해보도록 한다.

Up and down, left and right, across, over, under, along, to and from, into and out of, straight and around; they are direction words. 위, 아래, 왼쪽과 오른쪽, 위에, 아래에, ~ 따라서, ~에 와 ~에서부터, ~ 안으로 와 ~ 밖으로, 곧장~~ 둘러서; 이들은 방향을 나타내는 단어이다.

May is turning right. May는 우회전을 하고 있다.

She is walking over the bridge. 그녀는 다리 위를 걷고 있다.

She is running under the bridge. 그녀는 다리 아래를 걷고 있다.

She is walking around the tree. 그녀는 나무 주위를 걷고 있다.

She is going up the stairs. 그녀는 계단을 올라가고 있다.

She is swimming across the river. 그녀는 수영해서 강을 건너고 있다.

결국, 영어의 방향을 나타내 주는 표현을 이해했다면 다음과 같이 말할 수 있어야 한다.

Up and down, left and right, across, over, under, along, to and from, into and out of, straight and around; they are direction words.

May is turning right.

She is walking over the bridge.

She is running under the bridge.

She is walking around the tree.

She is going up the stairs.

She is swimming across the river.
