Supreme happiness
The obstacles of life we experience day after day are vary which is like the rain, the floods and the winds in the gospel.
Things that suddenly interupt our routine and make us bewildered and sad such as death of family members and a car accident are the rain, the floods and the winds in the life.
We cannot control it and what we could do is only accepting it.
You probably heard the serenity prayer in which we pray,
"God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference."
The serenity prayer does not end here. It goes on.
"Living one day at a time,
enjoying one moment at a time;
accepting hardship as a pathway to peace;
taking, as Jesus did,
this sinful world as it is,
not as I would have it;
trusting that You will make all things right
if I surrender to Your will;
so that I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with You forever in the next.
Amen."
Our life is not ours because we should surrender to the will of the Father in heaven. Then we will find reasonable happiness in this life.
If we live by the will of God, we will be wise and happy men who build the house on rock.
The prophet Isaiah proclaims in the first reading,
"The Lord is an eternal rock"(Is 26,4).
