Why are kindergartens so competitive in Korea?

1. 내가 쓴 글

The reason why kindergartens so competitive in Korea is that the parents want to let their children to be educated even from very early days of their life. In my case when I also started it when my son was only 3 years old. Why? He likes reading books and looks very smart. So I tried to teach him Korean and English by myself. How wonderful he was. He followed me very well. It became me to let him study harder and harder. I taught him Math and playing piano besides Korean and English. He was so busy to learn such many things every day. He did so well whatever I wanted him to learn. When he learned how to play piano, sometimes he got bored and doesn't want to playing piano anymore. At that time I did dancing according to the sound of his playing piano, saying him Look at me, I dance with your music. He likes it so much. It made him to play piano harder and harder. Finally he became to play piano so well. Kids look genius to their parents. It seems to make them to educate their children more and more.

The reason why kindergartens (are) so competitive in Korea is that the(X) parents want to let their children to(X) be educated even from very early days of their life.

1. be동사를 빼먹다니!

2. parents에 정관사 필요 없다. 일반 명사는 복수를 만들거나 정관사를 넣거나! 그런데 여기 복수니까 굳이 관사를 넣을 필요 없었다.

3. let 다음에 동사원형 오는 건데 쓸데없이 to를 붙였다.

In my case(,) when I also started it(BETTER: I started) when my son was only 3 years old.(X) Why?(BETTER: because) He(BETTER: he) likes reading books and looks very smart.

4. 구나 절로 문장을 시작할 땐 반드시 콤마를!

5. 하하 복잡하게 필요 없구나 간단하게 I started 면 되는 것을 when 은 왜 썼을꼬. 항상 간단하게! 줄일 수 있는 건 몽땅 줄이기! 오케이!

6. 하하 재밌으라고 Why? 요런 식으로 썼는데 그러면 안 되겠다. 하하 그냥 문장 끊지 말고 because로 연결하자.

So I tried to teach him Korean and English by myself. How wonderful he was. He followed me very well. It became me to let him(BETTER: made me want him to) study harder and harder.

7. It made me want him to study harder and harder. 훨씬 세련된 표현이다. 그렇지 나를 어떻게 하게 만들었다에 그냥 make면 되지 거기 무슨 become이 들어가고 let 이 들어가고 한단 말이냐. 하하 세련된 표현을 외우자 외워.

I (also) taught him Math(BETTER: math) and playing(BETTER: how to play the) piano besides Korean and English. He was so busy to learn such(BETTER: learning) many things every day. He did so well whatever I wanted him to learn.

8. 한글과 영어 외에도 수학과 피아노를 가르쳤다 하려면 아하 also를 넣어야겠구나.

9. 수학은 쓸데없이 대문자로 쓰는 게 아니다. 일반화된 과목들은 소문자로. math

10. 피아노 배우기를 그냥 playing piano라고 하면 안 되지. how to play the piano 일반 명사는 복수화 시키든가 관사를 붙이든가 해야 한다는 거 꼭 기억하자.

11. 배우는 것들로 바빴다를 굳이 to부정사를 쓸 필요 없는 거구나. He was so busy learning many things every day.

When he learned how to play (the) piano, sometimes he got bored and doesn't(BETTER: didn't) want to playing piano(BETTER: play) anymore.

12. 기억하자. 일반 명사를 그냥 쓸 수는 없다. 복수화 시키든가 단수로 만들어 관사를 붙이든가! 그러니까 how to play the piano 가 되어야 한다.

13. 그치. 시제일치. 과거이야기를 하면서 뜬금없이 왜 현재형이 나온단 말이냐. he didn't want to...

14. piano를 계속 쓸 필요는 없구나. 그냥 he didn't want to play anymore.

At that time(,) I did dancing according(BETTER: danced) to the sound of his playing piano,(X) saying him(BETTER: and said,) Look(BETTER: "Look) at me,(.) I dance(BETTER: am dancing) with(BETTER: to) your music.(")

15. 하나의 절이나 구로 문장을 시작할 땐 반드시 콤마!

16. 하하 그냥 과거형을 쓰면 되지 did dancing이 뭐냐. 푸하하하 I danced...

17. and said, 하고 문장을 끊어주는 게 좋구나. saying him 이 아니라 I danced to the sound of his playing the piano, and said, "Look at me. I am dancing to your music."

18. I dance to your music. 아하. dance with your music가 아니라 dance to your music 구나. 그렇지. 음악에 맞추어 춤을 추는 거니까. 아하.

19. 따옴표로 처리하고 그 따옴표 안에서 하는 말을 현재형으로 써넣는 게 훨씬 세련돼 보인다. 첨삭되어 온 세련된 문장을 자꾸 읽도록 하자.

He likes(BETTER: liked) it so much.(X) It(BETTER: that it) made him (want) to play (the) piano harder and harder. Finally(,) he became to(BETTER: good at) play(BETTER: playing the) piano so well.

20. 그치! 과거형! He liked it so much...

21. 여기선 굳이 문장 끊지 말고 so that 용법으로 한 문장으로 만들기. 그치. 이럴 때 so that 용법을 쓰는 거지. He likes it so much that it made him want to play the piano harder and harder.

22. Finally 다음에 콤마!

23. 이 문장 외우자. He became good at playing the piano so well.

Kids look genius to their parents. It seems to(BETTER: Parents often see their kids as geniuses, and it) make(BETTER: makes) them (want) to educate their children more and more.

24. Genesis는 창세기를 말하고 genius 는 천재를 말하고 그 복수는 geniuses 다. 기억하자.

genius 천재 (복수: geniuses)

genesis 기원, 발생

아하. 관점을 바꾸어서. Parents often see their kids as geniuses... 그치 애들이 그렇게 보이는 게 아니라 부모가 그렇게 보는 거니까.

25. it가 3인칭 단수이니 당연히 makes!

26. make 다음에 동사 원형! make them want to educate their children more and more.

Tip:

1. generalizing

When generalizing countable nouns, you can either:

셀 수 있는 명사를 일반화시킬 땐 아래와 같이!

1. make the noun plural:

Cats are gentle pets.

People like to interact with others.

명사를 복수화 시켜라.

Cats are...

People like...

OR

2. make it singular but add an article:

The cat is a gentle pet.

A person likes to interact with another person.

단수로 만들고 관사를 붙여라.

The cat is ...

A person likes ...

generalizing 일반화하다.

2. Introductory phrases

When starting a sentence with a dependent clause, use a comma after it.

Example: If you are not sure about this, let me know now.

종속절로 시작할 땐 꼭 콤마를 찍어라.

If you are not sure about this, let me know now.

Follow the same policy with introductory phrases.

Example: Having finally arrived in town, we went shopping.

도입부 구절과 같은 법칙을 따라라.

Having finally arrived in town, we went shopping.

3. subject or major

When you are talking about academic disciplines, majors, minors, programs, and courses of study in a general way, you do not need to capitalize them unless they are languages (because they are proper nouns):

math, chemistry, French, Spanish, integrated supply management program

학문 분야, 전공, 부전공, 프로그램 및 연구 과정에 대해 일반적으로 이야기할 때 대문자를 사용할 필요 없다. 그러나 언어의 경우 고유 명사이므로 대문자로 써야 한다. 수학, 화학, 프랑스어, 스페인어, 통합 공급 관리 프로그램

proper nouns 고유명사

disciplines 학문

4. Quotation Marks

We use quotation marks ("") with direct quotes, with the titles of certain works, to imply alternate meanings, and to write words as words. Follow these guidelines:

a) PERIOD AND COMMA

Put periods (.) and commas (,) inside quotation marks ("").

말을 그대로 전할 때 인용부호를 쓰는데 그때 쉼표와 마침표는 반드시 따옴표 안에 쓴다.
