Surprising discoveries while organizing
어제 정리를 하다가 집안에 얼마나 많은 영어 책이 있는지 발견하고 깜짝 놀랐다.
While organizing yesterday, I was amazed to discover how many English books there were in the house.
내가 이렇게 많은 영어 공부를 했단 말인가? 그런데 막상 필요할 때 하고 싶은 말은 한마디도 잘 못한다.
Have I studied so much English? However, when I really need it, I can't say a word well.
언어를 익히는데 많은 시간이 걸리는 것은 맞지만, 이때까지의 노력이 별로 효과가 없다는 사실이다.
It is true that it takes a lot of time to learn the language, but it is the fact that the efforts up to this point are not very effective.
이제부터라도 내 시간을 효과적으로 쓰고 싶다.
From now on, I want to use my time effectively.
이것은 여자들이 이쁜 옷을 보면 사서 옷장에 두는 것과 비슷하다는 생각을 했다.
I thought this is similar to what women buy and put in their closet when they see pretty clothes.
우리는 언젠가 필요할 거라는 생각에 옷을 사지만, 1년에 한 번도 옷을 입지 않는다.
They buy clothes because they think they'll need them someday, but never use them even once.
그 옷은 좁은 옷장만 차지하므로 꺼내서 버려야 한다.
The clothes occupy only a narrow closet, so they end up taking them out and throwing them away.
반면에 매일 출근할 때 입는 옷이라면 더 많은 돈을 들여도 그만한 가치가 있다.
On the other hand, if you wear the clothes you wear every day to work, it is worth spending more money.
나는 언어 공부를 할 때 가까운 시일 안에 꼭 필요한 것에 집중하는 것이 좋다고 생각한다.When I study a language, I think it's good to focus on what is essential in the near future.
어떤 표현을 배우면 그것을 잊어버리기 전에 사용할 기회를 가져야 한다.When you learn an expression, you should have a chance to use it before you forget it.

If you forget because you don't have the opportunity to learn and use it in a sentence, it's like buying clothes and not wearing them for a year.
나의 시간과 에너지는 무한하지 않다. 그러므로 나는 시간을 효과적으로 사용하고 싶다.
My time and energy are not infinite. Therefore, I want to use my time effectively.
나는 영어를 공부할 때 두 가지 전략을 가지기로 했다.
I decided to have two strategies when I study English.
첫 번째는 시간적으로 장기적 접근과 단기적 접근이다.

두 번째 전략은 'COPY & PASTE' 전략입니다.

우리는 아기일 때 특정 상황에서 부모가 하는 말을 듣고 따라 하면서 말을 배웠다.
When we were babies, we listened to our parents in certain situations and learned to speak by imitating them.
어떤 상황에서 누군가가 한 말을 듣고, 나는 그가 한 말을 모방하여 말을 할 것이다.
When I hear what someone has said in a situation, I will imitate what he has said.
언어 학습 상황에서 우리는 새로운 문장을 창조할 필요가 없다. 오히려, 상대가 사용한 표현을 그대로 모방하는 것이 더 중요하다.
