기억해줘요. 나 떠나거든,

돌아서지도 머물지도 못하는

내 손을 더는 붙잡을 수도 없는

그 조용한 곳으로 멀리 떠나가거든.

그대가 꿈꾸던 우리의 미래를

더 이상 날마다 말해주지 못한다면 기억해요:

그저 날 기억해 줘요; 그대도 알겠죠

후회하고 기도해도 이미 늦었다는 걸.

하지만 한동안 날 잊어야만 한다면

나중에 기억해줘요, 슬퍼하지 말고:

캄캄한 어둠과 부패를 거쳐도

내가 가졌던 생각의 흔적은 남을 테니,

기억하고 슬픔에 젖기보다는

잊으며 미소 짓는 편이 훨씬 나으니까요.
