나의 게으름 때문에 2018년 11월에 읽기 시작한 책을 2020년 03월이 다 되어서야 다 읽었다. 원래대로라면 40일 만에 끝냈어야 할 책이었는데 ‘쵸큼’ 시간이 더 걸려서 약간 부끄럽다. 하지만 여하튼 책 한 권을 끝냈다는 자체가 약간 뿌듯하고, 특히 올해 2월부터 다시 열심히 읽는 동안 내 삶의 ‘목적’을 다시 고민해볼 수 있어서 기뻤다. 한번 읽고 끝낼 책은 아닐 거 같고 기회 될 때마다 다시 읽고 함께 나눌 수 있으면 좋을 책이라는 생각이 든다.
“What on earth am I here for?” is the ultimate question this book asks readers. I could deeply ponder what my life should be like and what to do to fulfill ‘God’s purpose’ in my life. One of the most frequently repeated words at the end of the book is ‘eternal.’ That kept me thinking about what I should do to pursue eternal life. In the last chapter, it says,
“You do the eternal and timeless (God’s purpose) in a contemporary and timely way (in your generation). That is what the ‘purpose-driven life’ is all about.”
By honing my strengths, I will try to find a contemporary and timely way, and by contemplating what God wants me to do, I will also do eternal and timeless.
