1. Intro
My name is Riley Michael Horgan. I was raised in Mound, Minnesota which rests on the shores of beautiful Lake Minnetonka. I recently moved back to Seoul to start my 3rd year as an elementary school teacher in Korea. I previously worked in Suwon and Jamsilnaru, but I currently work at Kyonggi Elementary chool in Seodaemun. I live with one of my good friends in Kyoungridan.
제 이름은 Riley Michael Horgan이에요. 저는 Minesota, Mound에서 자랐고, 미네소타는 아름다운 Minnetonka호수가 있는 곳이에요. 저는 최근에 서울로 다시 돌아와서 초등학교 교사가 되었고, 한국 3년차가 되었어요. 이전에는 수원과 잠실나루에서 일했지만, 현재는 서대문에 있는 경기초등학교에서 일하고 있어요. 저는 경리단에서 좋은 친구와 함께 살고 있어요.

I am from the United states, but when people ask me where I'm from I like to say Minnesota. The United States are like 10 countries in 1. Minnesota defines who I am much more than the U.S. Minnesota is known for having extremely nice people and being the land of 10,000 lakes. I grew up on the busiest lake in Minnesota, Lake Minnetonka. In the Summer, I would spend all my time on the lake. I worked one of the many restaurants on the lake (Lord Fletcher's). In my free time, my friends and I would go boating, water skiing, or wake boarding.
저는 미국 출신이지만, 사람들이 물어볼 때면 미네소타에서 왔다고 말해요. 미국은 하나의 대륙에 10개 국가가 있는 것과 같아요. '미네소타'는 '미국'이라는 단어보다 저를 훨씬 더 잘 표현해줘요. 미네소타는 극도로 친절한 사람들과 10,000개의 호수가 있는 곳으로 유명해요. 저는 미네소타에서 가장 바쁜 곳, Minnetonka호수가 있는 곳에서 자랐어요. 여름에는, 저의 모든 시간을 호수에서 보냈어요. 저는 호수 근처에 있는 많은 레스토랑들 중에서 Lord Fletcher's에서 일했어요. 자유시간에 저와 친구들은 보트를 타러 가거나, 워터 스키를 타거나, 워터보드를 탔어요.

In the Winter, I went ice skating and snowmobiling on the lake. Winter in Minnesota is extremely cold, windy, and snowy. If there is a bad snowstorm, you won't be able to find your car outside.
겨울에는 호수에서 아이스스케이트나 스노모바일을 탔어요. 미네소타의 겨울은 엄청나게 춤고, 바람불고, 눈이 와요. 만약 나쁜 눈보라가 몰아친다면, 밖에서 당신의 차를 찾아내기는 불가능할 거에요.

I went to the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. St.Paul and Minneapolis are known as the twin cities because they are split by the Mississippi River. The metro area of these two cities has about 3.5 million people. The twin cities have several great areas to spend a night out with friends on a rooftop patio. Other activities that are fun around the cities include biking along the Mississippi River, going to a Minnesota Twins baseball game, and walking around the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden.
저는 미네소타 St.Paul에 있는 St.Tomas 대학교를 다녔어요. St.Paul과 Minneapolis는 쌍둥이 도시로 알려져 있는데, 미시시피 강에 의해서 나눠졌기 때문이에요. 이 두 도시의 주요 지역에는 350만명의 사람들이 살고 있어요. 이 쌍둥이 도시는 루프탑에서 친구들과 멋진 밤을 보낼 수 있는 몇몇의 훌륭한 지역들이 있어요. 도시 주변에서 재미있게 놀 수 있는 것들로는 미시시피 강을 따라 자전거 타기, 미네소타 트윈즈 야구경기장 가기, Minneapolis Sculpture Garden 돌아다니기 등이 있어요.

When I graduated University, I really wasn't sure what I wanted to do. I knew I wanted something different because my hometown isn't very diverse. I wanted to travel the world, but was limited by my student loans. One of my friends mentioned he was going to teach English in South Korea once he graduated. I laughed at him at first. After I looked into it, it seemed to be a great opportunity. I didn't need an education degree. They paid for your airfare, housing, and medical insurance. Most importantly of all, I would get to live in a foreign country. I really don't know much about what I was getting into, but I knew I was extremely excited about it. It turns out it was the best decision I've ever made in my life.
제가 대학교를 졸업했을 때, 저는 무엇을 해야할지 확실치 않았어요. 제 고향은 다양한 사람들이 많지 않았기 때문에, 무언가 다른걸 하고 싶어한다는 것만 알았어요. 저는 세계를 여행하고 싶었지만, 학생대출로는 한계가 있었어요. 제 친구 중 한명이 졸업한 후에 한국에 영어를 가르치러 갔다고 이야기했어요. 처음에 저는 그 친구를 비웃었어요. 하지만 이후에 조사해보니, 훌륭한 기회인것 처럼 보였어요. 또 다른 교육 증명서가 필요하지 않았고, 항공권, 집세, 의료보험까지 모두 지불해준다고 했어요. 하지만 가장 중요했던 것은, 제가 외국에서 살고 싶다는 것이었어요. 처음에는 알고 있는 게 별로 없었지만, 제가 정말 신나고 있다는 건 알았어요. 이건 결국 제 인생에서 제가 최고로 잘 한 결정이 되었어요.

한국에 대해서 무엇이 좋으세요?
There are many things I love about living in Seoul. The thing I've liked most is the people that I have met. Seoul is an extremely diverse city and you can meet people from all over the world. I've also met a lot of my best friends through the hockey league I play in. My Korean coworkers have been so nice and welcoming. The people in your life play a very important role in your happiness.
제가 서울에 사는 걸 정말 좋아하는 몇 가지 이유가 있어요. 제가 가장 좋아하는 건 제가 만났던 사람들이에요. 서울은 정말 다양한 도시이고, 전세계의 사람들을 만날 수가 있어요. 저는 또한 제가 경기하고 있는 하키리그에서 많은 베프들을 만났어요. 저의 한국인 동료들은 항상 친절하고, 따뜻했어요. 당신의 삶에서 당신의 행복을 결정하는 데 사람들이 정말 중요한 역할을 해요.
CBHK 하키팀과 함께Seoul is also one of the cleanest, most convenient, and affordable mega cities in the world. It doesn't have the extreme pollution of most cities of the same size in Asia. Cheap public transportation makes getting around much easier than back home. Incheon International Airport makes it easy to travel around Asia at a reasonable price. Cost of living makes it easy to save money while also living a comfortable lifestyle for an expat. It also helps that Korea has, in my opinion, the most beautiful girls in the world. But that's just a bonus.
또한, 서울은 세계에서 가장 깨끗하고, 편리하고, 알맞은 가격으로 지낼 수 있는 대도시에요. 다른 아시아에 있는 같은 크기의 도시와 비교해 보았을 때, 심한 오염을 가지고 있지 않아요. 싼 가격의 대중교통은 고향인 미국보다도 훨씬 더 돌아다니는 데 어려움이 없게 해줘요. 인천국제공항은 아시아 지역을 합리적인 가격으로 여행하는 데 어렵지 않도록 해줘요. 생활비용은 외국인으로서 편안하게 살면서도, 돈을 저축할 수 있어요. 또한, 제 생각엔 한국에는 세계에서 가장 아름다운 여자들이 산다는 것도 도움이 돼요. 하지만, 이건 그냥 보너스일 뿐이에요.
Friends and hockey 하키경기중 친구들과5. Favorite place in Korea? 한국에서 가장 좋아하는 곳은?
There are many places I have explored in Korea that I have loved. Gyeongju, Seoraksan National Park, Boryeong, and Muiido are just a few of my favorites. I have done just about every tourist attraction inside Seoul. All the palaces, particularly Gyeongbokgung, are incredible. Bukhansan National Park was stunning and so convenient to get to. Gwanghuamun and the city hall area were very enjoyable as well. The history and architecture surpass anything in Minnesota.
제가 한국에서 여행하면서 정말 좋았던 곳이 많아요. 경주, 설악산 국립공원, 보령, 그리고 무의도는 제가 좋아하는 곳들이에요. 저는 서울에 있는 모든 관광명소를 다 가봤어요. 모든 궁들 중에서 특히 경복궁은 정말 멋졌어요. 북한산 국립공원은 굉장히 아름다웠고, 가기도 정말 편리했어요. 광화문과 시청지역에서도 즐거운 시간을 보냈어요. 역사와 예술품들은 미네소타의 그 어떤 것들을 모두 뛰어넘을 정도였어요.
Hyeopjae in Jeju 제주 협재바다But my favorite place in Korea has to be Jeju Island. I took a trip there with 3 good friends. We hiked Hallasan which was quite difficult and hot. We went on a long bike ride through tiny villages. We swam underneath waterfalls. My favorite part of the whole trip was the beautiful beaches that make you feel like you are in southeast Asia. Jeju was nothing like I expected it to be.
하지만 제가 한국에서 가장 좋아하는 곳은 제주도에요. 저는 3명의 좋은 친구들과 함께 제주도여행을 갔었어요. 한라산을 하이킹 했는데, 꽤 어렵기도 하고 덥기도 했어요. 우리는 작은 마을들을 자전거를 타고 돌아다니기도 하고, 폭포 밑에서 수영도 했어요. 제가 여행 중에서 가장 좋았던 건, 아름다운 해변이 마치 동남아에 온 것 같은 느낌을 줬다는 거에요. 제주도는 제가 기대했던 것 그 이상이었어
6. Plans for the future? 미래 계획은?
I moved back to Korea for a reason. I am happy here. My current living situation is ideal. I get to live in a mega city while saving money. I work less than 30 hours a week at a prestigious elementary school. I plan to stay in Seoul for the next 2 or 3 years. I would like to pursue my master's degree in international education. This will help me advance my career. I would like to continue to travel as much as possible. I would also like to date more. Traveling for the past year didn't allow me to be in a relationship at all. It also helps that Korean women are so beautiful!
저는 한국에 몇 가지 이유들로 돌아왔어요. 한국에 와서 행복해요. 현재 생활모습은 이상적이에요. 대도시에 살면서 돈을 모을 수도 있으니까요. 저는 일류 초등학교에서 일주일에 30시간도 안 되게 일하고 있어요. 서울에서 2~3년 더 살기를 계획하고 있어요. 저는 국제교육학 석사학위를 받고 싶어요. 이건 제 경력을 업그레이드하는데 도움이 될 거에요. 저는 가능한 한 많은 여행을 계속 이어나가고 싶어요. 더 많이 데이트도 하고 싶어요. 작년에 여행을 하느라 어떤 만남도 가질 수 없었거든요. 또한 한국여자들이 정말 예쁘다는 건 도움이 많이 돼요!
