Ahh!!! I was having a dream in colour!

The alarm pulled me out of my dream!

My colour dream disappeared from my memory!

I tried to continue the same dream, but I couldn't!

Huh! What’s this?

A Kandinsky painting appeared in front of me!

First, I pressed the photo button.

It was clear that this was not a dream.

Ah! It’s light.

Where’s this light coming from?

Oh! My son left the door open a crack.

Then, I finally woke from the dream.

Recently, I was captivated by the mystique of a Kandinsky painting.
Is this why Kandinsky now appears above me, showing me a triangle of light and a round water droplet?

Two weeks ago, I visited the Kandinsky exhibition. (Art Gallery of NSW, Sydney)

It felt like I knew something, but at the same time like I didn't. It felt like I could tell what his paintings, full of geometric patterns, represented if I looked closely. But no. It was an illusion and arrogance.

Even after looking at the title, I didn't understand it. Even the blue painting was just titled “Blue Painting.” What a relief it would be if someone came to me and explained everything in the painting. I was frustrated the whole time I was looking at the painting. Even after going back home from the exhibition, my curiosity persisted. Even if I searched online, there was nobody who knew for certain.

I wanted to meet Kandinsky and hear his stories in person. Some of his other paintings expressed music, and I wanted to ask what kind of music he was listening to at those times. I thought it would be easier to understand if I listened to the same music while looking at the pictures.

And another question came to me. His paintings probably contain the same type of deep philosophy as the Rodin book I'm reading, right? That must be why people call him a great abstract painter and call his paintings masterpieces. I also wanted to ask him about his philosophy on art, especially regarding lines, shapes and colours.

Meanwhile, the light triangles and circles that greeted me at dawn somehow seemed like a message sent to me by Kandinsky. It seemed as if, through that light, he was giving me a hint to help me understand his paintings, even if just a little. (Actually, it really gave me chills, but I'll just say it was a coincidence.)

After coming to my senses, I took a closer look at the catalogue of his paintings that I had bought at the exhibition. As I expected, many paintings from the 1920s were full of triangles and circles. Even though the light gave me a hint, I was still curious. What was the significance of triangles and circles to him?

But, I knew at least one thing.

I guess I also have Kandinsky’s eyes.

Eyes that respond to beauty.

For a long time, I captured the dawn's darkness and light through photos.
