평서문으로 문장을 만들어 봤으니, 부정문과 의문문 만들기를 해보려고 한다.

부정문은 아니라는 의미를 평서문에 첨가해 주면 된다.

아니라는 것은 not을 쓰면 된다.

not은 품사로 봤을 때, 부사이고, 왜냐면 없어도 있어도 문장이 깨지지 않기 때문이다.

그렇다면 부사의 위치는? 일앞조비뒤, 일반동사 앞, 조동사 be동사 뒤에 위치한다.

그러므로 not은 당연하게 be 동사 뒤로 온다.

The book is not on the table.

The books are not on the shelves.

The clock is not on the wall.

The watch is not on my wrist.

I am not an adult.

It is not a book.

This is not an apple.

아주 쉽다!

그럼 다시 이 문장을 의문문으로 바꿔보자.

의문문으로 바꾸려면 단순히 be동사를 앞으로 끄집어 오면 된다.

Is not the book on the table?

Are not the books on the shelves?

Is not the clock on the wall?

Is not the watch on my wrist?

Am not I an adult?

Is not it a book?

Is not this an apple?

근데 보통은 줄여서 쓴다.

Isn't the book on the table?

Aren't the books on the shelves?

Isn't the clock on the wall?

Isn't the watch on my wrist?

Ain't I an adult?

Isn't it a book?

Isn’t this an apple?

근데 이렇게 쓰는 건 사실 다 알 것 같다.

하지만 이걸 입으로 계속 말해서 입 주변의 영어근육을 키워야 한다.
