Does God control everything?
He stayed. He held onto us.
In the garden of Gethsemane and on the cross, do you know what was happening?
All the greatest forces in the universe were laid against Jesus and he could have stopped them.
He could have stopped the rejection. He could have stopped the torture.
He could have stopped death. He could have stopped the rejection of his father.
He could have stopped eternal justice coming down on his head.
겟세마네 동산과 십자가에서, 무슨 일이 일어나고 있었는지 아세요?
이 세상에서 가장 강력한 세력들이 예수님을 대적하고 있었어요.
그리고 예수님은 그것들을 멈추실 수 있었어요.
거절을 멈추실 수 있었어요. 고문을 멈추실 수 있었어요.
죽음을 멈추실 수 있었어요. 아버지가 자신을 외면하신 걸 멈추실 수 있었어요.
예수님은 영원한 정의를 위해 본인이 희생당해야 하는 걸 멈추실 수 있었어요.
All he had to do was just give up on us. That’s all he had to do.
Just walk away.
그냥 포기하기만 하시면 됐어요. 그게 다예요.
그냥 우리에게서 고개를 돌리시기만 하면 됐어요.
Charles Spurgeon, I think it was, said Jesus Christ was up on the cross nailed, bleeding,
looking down at people betraying him and forsaking him and denying him.
And in the greatest act of love in the history of universe, he stayed.
Bomb after bomb after bomb was coming down on Jesus Christ trying to get him to drop us.
To separate him from us.
Charles Spurgeon 이란 분이 하셨던 말이에요.
예수님은 십자가에 못 박힌 채 피 흘리시며 자신을 배신하고 외면하고 부인하는 사람들을 쳐다보셨죠.
그리고 온 우주의 역사상 가장 위대한 사랑으로 인해 십자가에 남으셨어요.
온갖 세력들이 예수님이 우리를 포기하게 하기 위해 공격을 하고, 또 하고, 계속 공격을 했죠.
우리로부터 끊어내기 위해. 우리로부터 멀어지게 하도록.
And even hell itself couldn’t do it. He stayed.
Nothing could separate him from us. His love from us.
He held onto us. He was our savior. He died for us.
근데 지옥 그 자체조차 예수님을 포기하게 하지 못했어요. 예수님은 십자가에 남으셨어요.
아무것도, 그 무엇도 예수님을 우리에게서 끊어내지 못했어요. 예수님의 사랑을 말이에요.
예수님은 우리를 꼭 붙잡고 놓지 않으셨어요. 우리의 구세주가 되셨죠. 우리를 위해 돌아가신 거예요.
Now that’s how you know nothing can separate you from the love of God.
It’s not an abstract, “oh I believe God loves me unconditionally.”
Oh no, he loves you counter-conditionally. He loves you against conditions because of Jesus. When you see Jesus Christ never let you go no matter what came down on him,
that’s how you know. That’s the only way you really know absolutely certainly that
no matter what you do inside, no matter what bad is happening outside,
he has not abandoned you.
여러분, 그래서 알 수 있는 거예요, 그 무엇도 우리를 하나님의 사랑으로부터 끊어놓을 수 없다는 걸.
단순히 추상적으로 “맞아, 하나님은 나를 조건 없이 사랑하셔”가 아니에요.
단순히 조건 없이 사랑하시는 게 아니라 예수님은 모든 조건을 뛰어넘는 사랑을 보여주신 거예요.
그렇게 알 수 있는 거예요. 여러분 그래서 아는 거예요.
그 어떤 세력이 그 어떤 공격을 해도 십자가에서 예수님이 여러분을 끝까지 놓지 않으셨기에
알 수 있는 거예요.
당신이 아무리 속에서 악한 생각과 행동을 하든, 아무리 상황이 안 좋아 보이고 나쁜 일들이 일어나든,
십자가의 사랑을 생각하면 알 수 있는 거예요. 하나님이 우리를 버리신 게 아니라는 걸.
If he wouldn’t abandon you then, he wouldn’t abandon you now.
If he wouldn’t abandon you when hell itself was coming down on him,
and if that didn’t separate him from you, do you think you having a bad week is going to do it?
Do you think there’s anything you could do that could destroy his love for you
when that couldn’t do it?
Or when bad things are happening to you all over and you say “oh I must be abandoned,”
if he didn’t abandon you there, he’s not going to abandon you now.
여러분, 예수님이 십자가에서도 여러분을 포기하지 않으셨다면 지금도 포기하지 않으세요.
사탄이 예수님에게 온갖 고문과 고통을 끼얹었는데도 불구하고
십자가에서도 여러분을 포기하지 않으셨는데,
좀 힘든 한 주를 보냈다고 예수님이 여러분을 포기하신 거라 생각하세요?
십자가에서도 끊어내지 못했는데 이 세상에 그 무엇이 여러분에 대한 예수님의 사랑을
포기하게 만들 수 있을 거라 생각하세요?
상황이 안 좋아서 “예수님이 날 버리셨나 보다”라고 생각하시나요?
십자가에서조차 여러분을 포기하지 않으셨다면, 지금 여러분을 포기하실 리가 없어요.
He spared not himself. The father spared not his own son.
And if he wouldn’t spare that, if he wouldn’t spare us that, if he gave us the ultimate gift
do you think somehow he’s going to let your life go off the rails now?
He’s not going to deny you anything you need.
If somebody spends a billion dollars on your present,
do you think he’s going to skimp on the wrapping paper?
자기 자신조차 아끼지 않으셨어요. 아버지가 자기 아들조차 아끼지 않으셨어요.
아들조차 아끼지 않으셨다면, 그래서 엄청난 대가를 치르고 가장 소중한 영생을 우리에게 주셨다면,
예수님이 실수로 여러분의 삶을 깜빡하실 거 같으신가요?
누군가가 당신에게 주기 위해 몇십억짜리 선물을 샀다면, 포장지 값을 아끼려 할까요?
This is the love you’ve been looking for all your life.
No friend love, no married love, no parental love will give you what this will give you.
Nothing, neither death nor life, neither angels nor principalities, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, nor height nor depth nor anything in creation will be able
to separate you from the love of God which is in Jesus Christ our Lord.
이게 바로 여러분이 한평생 찾고 있던 사랑입니다.
친구가 줄 수 있는 사랑도 아니고요, 결혼이 줄 수 있는 사랑도 아니에요.
부모가 줄 수 있는 사랑도 아니죠.
아무것도, 그 무엇도, 죽음도, 생명도, 천사도, 하늘의 어떤 권세도, 현재도, 미래도,
그 어떤 권력도, 높은 것이나 깊은 것이나 피조물 중 그 어떤 것도
당신을 하나님의 사랑으로부터 끊어놓을 수 없어요. 예수님이 바로 그 사랑의 증거세요.
