As mothers and daughters, we are connected with one another. My mother is the bones of my spine, keeping me straight and true. She is my blood, making sure it runs rich and strong. She is the beating of my heart. I cannot now imagine a life without her. A daughter without her mother is a woman broken. It is a loss that turns to arthritis and settles deep into her bones.

엄마와 딸로서 우리는 서로 연결되어 있다. 엄마는 내 척추를 이루는 뼈이고 나를 똑바로 진실하게 서도록 해준다. 엄마는 나의 피, 풍부하고 건강하게 내 속에서 흐른다. 엄마는 내 심장의 고동이다. 엄마가 없는 삶을 나는 상상할 수 없다. 엄마가 없는 딸은 산산이 부서진 여인과 같다. 그것은 마치 관절염으로 발전하여 뼛속 깊숙이 자리 잡은 사고와도 같다.
