John F. Kennedy : An Idealist Without Illusions
If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich. The rights of every man are diminished when the rights of one man are threatened. We cannot negotiate with people who say what's mine is mine and what's yours is negotiable.
If we cannot end now our differences, at least we can help make the world safe for diversity.

가난한 다수의 사람을 도울 수 없는 사회라면 그 사회는 부유한 소수의 사람도 구할 수 없다. 한 사람의 권리가 위협받을 때 모든 사람의 권리는 줄어든다. 내 건 내 것이고, 네 것을 놓고 협상하자는 이들과는 협상할 수는 없다. 지금 우리의 차이를 끝낼 수 없다면 적어도 다양성이 안전하게 자리할 수 있도록 도울 수 있어야 한다.
