만일 세상을 하나의 눈물방울로 치환한다면
온 세상을 다 메우고도 부족할 만큼
거대한 눈물방울이 될 것이다
만일 세상을 하나의 가벼운 농담으로 치부한다면
온 세상을 다 메우고도 부족할 만큼
커다란 웃음이 태어날 것이다
하지만 세상을 한 명의 아기에 비유한다면
밤하늘 속 희미한 별빛을 닮은
아주 작고 사랑스러운 아기일 것이다
아기를 바라보는 어머니의 눈빛만큼
아름다운 시는 아직 쓰여진 일이 없기에
A Baby

If the universe were but a single teardrop,
it would be giant enough to drown the earth.
If the universe were a lighthearted joke,
mirth that could overflow the universe would burst out.
But if the universe were a baby,
it would be a tiny and lovely one,
shimmering like a distant star in the night sky.
Because, until now, a poem as beautiful as
a mother’s gaze toward her baby
hasn't been born.
