The Adventures of Tom Sawyer

Do you like adventurous books like ‘The Adventures of Tom Sawyer’? I don’t like to leave for adventure, but I like adventurous books. Today I want to introduce the book ‘The Adventures of Tom Sawyer’.

Tom is a naughty boy who lived at a countryside village. He makes his aunt, Poli a little mad, because he is a trouble maker. Tom likes adventure. So, he imagines about being a pirate.

One day, Tom thought that there is no one that loves him so he was going to say to his friend, Jo, that he will leave this village. But, also Jo was going to leave the village by the similar reason as Tom! And at last, the most naughty boy called Huckleberry is going with them.

The three boys rode a raft and went to a small island at the river. At first, it was very fun. But, time goes by, they wanted to see their family at the village. So they went back to the village at their funeral day. The villagers were thinking that the three boys were dead!

And they were going to leave for another adventure. To find the treasure...

After I read this book, I thought that adventurous books are very fun and interesting. There is nothing we can predict during the adventure. At, adventurous books, the point that we can’t predict anything makes the story more fascinating. Next time I want to read the book, ‘The adventure of Huckleberry Finn’.

톰 소여의 모험

당신은 <톰 소여의 모험> 같은 모험 관련된 책을 좋아 하는가? 나는 실제로 모험을 떠나는 것을 안 좋아하지만, 모험 관련된 책을 읽는 것은 좋아한다. 모험 책의 가장 대표적인 책 중 하나인 <톰 소여의 모험>을 오늘 소개해 볼까 한다.

톰은 1800년대의 어느 시골 마을에 살던 개구쟁이였다. 그래서 맨날 자기를 돌봐주는 폴리 이모에게 장난을 쳐서 조금 화나게 한다. 톰은 모험을 좋아해서 틈만 나면 해적이 되는 상상을 하곤 했다. 어느 날, 톰은 자기를 사랑해 주는 사람이 없다고 생각해서 마을을 떠나려고 했다. 그래서 조라는 다른 친구한테 얘기하려 했는데, 조도 같은 생각으로 마을을 떠나려고 했다.

마을에서가장 잘 알려진 말썽꾸러기인 허클베리 핀도 같이 가기로 했다. 그렇게 3명의 친구들은 뗏목을 타고 마을을 떠나게 된다. 이 3명의 아이들은 강변에 있는 섬에 자리잡게 된다. 그들은 처음에는 정말 신나고 재미있었지만, 시간이 갈수록, 마을에서 걱정하고 있을 가족들 생각이 나서 슬펐다.

그래서 바로 돌아가려고 했지만, 톰이 집에 몰래 갔다 와서, 톰, 허클베리, 조의 장례식 날짜를 알게 되었다. 마을 사람들은 3명의 아이들이 강에 빠져 죽은 줄 아는 것이다. 그래서 오히려 멋지게 돌아오기 위해서 장례식 날에 마을로 돌아왔다. 그 뒤에는 보물 찾는 것을 시작하게 되는데...

이 책을 읽고, 모험 책은 역시 재미 있다는 것을 다시 한 번 느꼈다. 나는 실제로 모험을 가는 것은 사실 별로 좋아하지 않는다. 절대 확실하게 일어나는 일이 하나도 없기 때문이다. 하지만 모험 책에서는 모험에서 확실한 일이하나도 없다는 그 부분이 오히려 더 이야기를 흥미진진하게 해 준다.

그 일이 어떻게 마무리될 지 예상할 수 없으니까, 뒷 이야기가 더 궁금해 지는 것이다. 책을 다 읽었을 때는 이미 시간이 많이 지나있어서 깜짝 놀랐다. 다음 번에도 이 책과 같은 모험 책을 읽으면, 이번보다 더 빨리 읽을 수 있을 것 같다!
