Siloam

John 9:1-12

Jesus Heals a Man Born Blind

As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. 2 His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” 3 “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. 4 As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. 5 While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” 6 After saying this, he spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man’s eyes. 7 “Go,” he told him, “wash in the Pool of Siloam” (this word means “Sent”). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing. 8 His neighbors and those who had formerly seen him begging asked, “Isn’t this the same man who used to sit and beg?” 9 Some claimed that he was. Others said, “No, he only looks like him.” But he himself insisted, “I am the man.” 10 “How then were your eyes opened?” they asked. 11 He replied, “The man they call Jesus made some mud and put it on my eyes. He told me to go to Siloam and wash. So I went and washed, and then I could see.” 12 “Where is this man?” they asked him. “I don’t know,” he said.

I used to sing the song, 'Siloam' very often as a middle schooler, even though I didn't know that song is based on this event of a blind man in the bible. But I felt just good whenever I sang the song, maybe the lines were touching, and I thought that it read my mind of wanting to see like the man in darkness. Truly, I didn't see Jesus with my own eyes, but I felt the love of Him.

At age 21, without any expectation or any imagination I had never had, I had a moment of seeing Jesus with my own eyes, like a panorama in a daytime in a room with some of my friends, but I was the only man who saw Him and met and welcomed Him as my Savior who forgave all my sins.

I saw the light of the world, and I didn't even realize that I was a blind girl until that time. My heart felt it, though. I couldn't forget the time when I knew that how sinful man I was and what Jesus had done for me as well as all human beings. It is to be a ransom for all sinful man. No one can do the greatest work than He did and no one can do the work instead of Him. Even all the saints or parents can't do it, I mean, dying for all at once, as we humans are all sinned.

Because I was spiritually in darkness without knowing I was a blind man, I felt the same as the man who begged nearby Siloam, but one thing is totally different from him. I know who He was. who cured and freed from all spiritual and mental burden I had got from birth. His name is Jesus, the Savior and the light of the world, who loved the world so much that He gave His own life to all human beings.
