World goes after Him
John 12:12-19
Jesus Comes to Jerusalem as King
12 The next day the great crowd that had come for the festival heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. 13 They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting,“ Hosanna!
“Blessed is the king of Israel!” 14 Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, as it is written:15 “Do not be afraid, Daughter Zion; see, your king is coming, seated on a donkey’s colt.”
16 At first his disciples did not understand all this. Only after Jesus was glorified did they realize that these things had been written about him and that these things had been done to him. 17 Now the crowd that was with him when he called Lazarus from the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to spread the word. 18 Many people, because they had heard that he had performed this sign, went out to meet him. 19 So the Pharisees said to one another, “See, this is getting us nowhere. Look how the whole world has gone after him!”
Jesus was coming to Jerusalem riding a donkey, not a wonderful horse or wagon or something else. How hard the Pharisees were going to object to Jesus and planning to kill Him, nothing could stop people from following Him, as they saw in persons or heard of the miraculous signs of Jesus. But He died not only because of the wicked plan of the leaders of the Israelites, but also because of the greatest plan of the gracious and majestic God, our Father.
Someone had to die for all of us, and sadly, it should be the Son of God, Himself, as none is pure and righteous in nature, so He had to come down to this earth as the Son of Man. This is the gospel, the good news of the world, and no one could stop it from spreading until now, and it goes on to the end of this earth, and then He comes. The day would come soon, because almost all nations are getting the news of this gospel more and more, thanks to the translators' development and the SNS on the internet as well as the trials of many missionaries.
However, not all men could be believers of Him because the Holy Spirit has to open our eyes and open our ears, so that we may see and hear the good news that makes us free and gives eternal lives. This is the mysteries to non-believers, and at the same time it is the grace of God to believers. I am not saying that I am lucky enough to know Him, but also I want all the human beings to know and follow Him without any prejudices that come from their experiences, or without judging God with their limited knowledge.
Just try to be closer to Him through the bible, and you will see Him and know who He was, who He is, and who He is to come!
