Is God a Liar?

예레미야(Jer) 4장

10. Then I said, “Alas, Sovereign LORD! How completely you have deceived this people and Jerusalem by saying, ‘You will have peace,’ when the sword is at our throats!”

14. Jerusalem, wash the evil from your heart and be saved. How long will you harbor wicked thoughts?

God surely seems to want me to have peace and He has also given it to me. He might want to give peace to all human mankind. However, He oftentimes seems to pour us with disaster-like judgements. Then, we could say like this: God has deceived me, saying "Peace on me!"

Is it true and does it make senses? I mean, could the righteous God be a liar or destroyer as well? No, not all all. I think that He only wants us to wash the evil and wicked thoughts from our hearts and be saved from His judgements, because He should keep balanced with mercy and  justice at the same time. Mercy, though, comes first, and judgements comes later, or sooner.

We often think of His love and mercy, but not of His punishment and never think of how bitter it would be, either.
