Spoiled children
예레미야(Jer) 4장
22. 내 백성은 나를 알지 못하는 어리석은 자요 지각이 없는 미련한 자식이라 악을 행하기에는 지각이 있으나 선을 행하기에는 무지하도다
22. “My people are fools; they do not know me. They are senseless children; they have no understanding. They are skilled in doing evil; they know not how to do good.”
예레미야(Jer) 5장
1. 너희는 예루살렘 거리로 빨리 다니며 그 넓은 거리에서 찾아보고 알라 너희가 만일 정의를 행하며 진리를 구하는 자를 한 사람이라도 찾으면 내가 이 성읍을 용서하리라
1. “Go up and down the streets of Jerusalem, look around and consider, search through her squares. If you can find but one person who deals honestly and seeks the truth, I will forgive this city.
9. 여호와의 말씀이니라 내가 어찌 이 일들에 대하여 벌하지 아니하겠으며 내 마음이 이런 나라에 보복하지 않겠느냐
9. Should I not punish them for this?” declares the LORD. “Should I not avenge myself on such a nation as this?
I feel like God is screaming like a Father who is upset about His own spoiled children who deserve their parents' punishment.
Most of parents are concerned about disciplining and parenting their own children and so am I, although they are young adults of the age 29 and 25. I feel lost in the way how to do parenting them. They are like the Israelites, who do backsliding many times, I mean, returning back to the place of sins, not knowing how to do good, nor knowing the way of the Lord.
Then, should I forgive them, even when they have forsaken me? As God cries out, so I have done oftentimes and I have tried to do, but I couldn't, because I have experienced the love of God and His forgiveness and mercy as well. Plus, because I myself was the spoiled child who doesn't listen to Him and does not know the requirements of His way and truth, I am not eligible to complaint about my children at all.
