24. 또 너희 마음으로 우리에게 이른 비와 늦은 비를 때를 따라 주시며 우리를 위하여 추수 기한을 정하시는 우리 하나님 여호와를 경외하자 말하지도 아니하니
24. They do not say to themselves, ‘Let us fear the LORD our God, who gives autumn and spring rains in season, who assures us of the regular weeks of harvest.’
25. 너희 허물이 이러한 일들을 물리쳤고 너희 죄가 너희로부터 좋은 것을 막았느니라
25. Your wrongdoings have kept these away; your sins have deprived you of good.
31. 선지자들은 거짓을 예언하며 제사장들은 자기 권력으로 다스리며 내 백성은 그것을 좋게 여기니 마지막에는 너희가 어찌하려느냐
31. The prophets prophesy lies, the priests rule by their own authority, and my people love it this way. But what will you do in the end?
We fear those who have authorities. Then, who has the greatest authority to which we should surrender and obey? Our history tells us that any powerful authorities don't last forever and they fall down as time goes on, no matter how great or powerful they look those days.
When Jesus did something good on a Sabbath, the Israelite leaders, in particular, the priests who knew the law of God well used to ask Him, "What authorities do you do these things?"
They must have thought of themselves as the ones who had authorities because they ruled the people by their own authority and they thought that the Isralites loved them, but they told lies and they were hypocrites. They didn't seem to love the people at all and God as well, rather only loving the worldly authorities they had.
On the other hand, God is the Creator of this universe and He rules this world according to His good will and a perfect plan, making this earth move around orderly and peacefully, so He is the only one who has the authority of all mankinds. The problem is that we humans misunderstand it and we tend to replace it by our own, which I think is the most sinful behavior of all sins.
In a nutshell, i hope that we fear God only, not any other ones who are going to fall down soon and will instantly disappear like a fog in the sunshine.
