23. 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시되 지혜로운 자는 그의 지혜를 자랑하지 말라 용사는 그의 용맹을 자랑하지 말라 부자는 그의 부함을 자랑하지 말라
23. This is what the LORD says: “Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches,
24. 자랑하는 자는 이것으로 자랑할지니 곧 명철하여 나를 아는 것과 나 여호와는 사랑과 정의와 공의를 땅에 행하는 자인 줄 깨닫는 것이라 나는 이 일을 기뻐하노라 여호와의 말씀이니라
24. but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the LORD, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the LORD.
25. 여호와의 말씀이니라 보라 날이 이르면 할례 받은 자와 할례 받지 못한 자를 내가 다 벌하리니
25. “The days are coming,” declares the LORD, “when I will punish all who are circumcised only in the flesh—
Boasting about what we have, such as wealth, health, beauty, knowledge etc., is meaningless as nothing is perfect and all would disappear sooner or later.
However, there is one thing that i can boast about, which is the knowledge of God and understanding of His Words. Although I live with many people who have different point of views, or who oppose this opinion, the value of knowing God is priceless, as no one can buy it with tons of money, or with any perfect beauty, or even with a lot of knowledge. The reason is that it is only given by the grace of God who freely pours onto the men who seek Him.
Sadly, many people seem to seek less valuable things that would go away than the most important thing that would last forever. It is the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice, and righteousness on earth, so I delight in Him and His rules and mercy, which is the best thing that I'd like to boast of before men and women.
